Our partnership with Road Ready NZ has been one of the highlights of B Creative's client work. We've watched this go from a bootstrapped pilot to where it stands today, and it's been a privilege to play a part in getting them there.

B Creative was tasked with creating core safety videos for Road Ready's platform, edited in 15 x different languages for the initial pilot period. Being nimble, up for the challenge, and having significant past experience creating health and safety content, B Creative was the team for the job.

We've seen Road Ready grow since, and it's easy to see why. It's a rare, no-brainer solution that delivers a genuine net positive for New Zealand; safer roads, and real savings in time, money and resources for the country and local communities.

Having worked this closely on the project, I can't help but think of Road Ready every time I see an avoidable accident on our roads (a column of traffic backed up, a campervan stuck in the snow, tourists stranded without fuel). It's exactly why we need Road Ready.

We're chasing the same thing from different angles. They're working to get drivers to give vulnerable road users — riders, cyclists, anyone without a metal shell around them — the room and the care they deserve. We're working to get visiting drivers ready for NZ roads before they set off.

Same idea underneath: a safe road is one where every driver knows how to look out for the people around them. Plenty of visitors have never had to think about passing a horse on a narrow country road. That's exactly the kind of thing worth knowing before you drive.

So we built it. A short safety briefing, done on a phone at the rental handover, before the keys change hands. Quick, clear, and finished before you pull out of the yard.

Road Ready NZ is a short digital safety briefing for visiting and international drivers, delivered right at the rental handover — the moment before they head out onto New Zealand's roads.

Our roads are beautiful, and they catch people out. Narrow lanes, single-lane bridges, weather that turns fast, and the small matter of driving on the left for the first time. Most visitors want to do the right thing. They've just never had anything that actually prepares them before they drive.

So we built it. A quick, engaging briefing plus a few Road Code questions, done on a phone before the keys change hands. Not a brochure that gets left in the glovebox — a step drivers actually complete.

It started after witnessing a near-miss on the road to Wānaka. It's grown from there.
