Today Duncan recorded original songs with all 200 Year 7&8 students as they prepare for their upcoming production of The Aurora Stone. We are grateful for this facility onsite and Duncan's expertise.

It was at a Rodger Fox concert in 1993 that I fell in love with Jazz. I will always remember how I was so blown away by Arturo Sandoval. I'd never heard anything like it. From then on I've had a life long love of jazz. And for this I honour and thank Rodger Fox.

His work for jazz education in NZ is invaluable. He has directed and judged so many of my bands. He has had a massive positive influence on hundreds of my own students, and no doubt many thousands more.

He will be greatly missed.

Rockquest is this week so our bands are hard at work getting ready which is proving to be a massive challenge right on the back of the senior production of Legally Blonde.

They are hard at work for two days in the recording studio before we have our own practise concert on Friday at 7pm in our very own Nga Toi theatre.

Then on Saturday all our bands are performing on the 4pm session at the Rockquest heat at The Aurora Centre.

Photos from St Andrew's College Music Dept's post 17/02/2024

Our choirs have had a great start to the year with a two day onsite camp. The days were filled with singing, group challenges, good food and workshops including voice, rhythm and vocal anatomy led by our wonderful tutors and accompanists. We were treated to a performance from acapella group Voice Co. The senior musicians were fantastic at stepping up and setting the tone for a great year ahead. This is a little glimpse into some of the work.
