A huge thank you to everyone who came to the quiz night the other night. Also a massive congrats to our winners💓 can’t wait to see you all at the next event 🤟🏻

And last but not least… we have the face behind the screen!👀

Heya!! I’m Tayla, I am 22 and I am this years social media gal!!
I’m studying a BA majoring in psychology where I hope to go onto clinical post grad and then specialise in s*x and relationship psychology 🤓
Bit about me: Outside of uni life you will either find me on that work grind at IAG insurance or in the gym, I am a huge fitspo gal/ runner track star😉 I absolutely love health and fitness! Aaaand I am also an absolute fiend for the true crime docos 🤌🏻
Fun fact about me: I am a qualified swimming and kayak instructor but couldn’t tell you the last time I went swimming🤪

And that’s it! This is your exec team for this year! Can’t wait to really get into all these events with everyone! Reminder about quiz night this Wednesday too💓

Next we have Calli!! 😋

Kia ora! Im Calli, doing my first year majoring in Psychology and Biology. 🍞 So far I am drawn to Positive psychology and Trauma related disorders. Outside of uni ive been doing a lot of tutoring, fantasy writing, digital art - also indulging in way too many thriller and occult movies lately 🙉 Im quite chatty when it comes to discussing niche topics or anything psychology related, im always up for a good discussion.

Aaaand next we have our equity rep Poppy🤩

Kia ora!

My name’s Poppy, I use they/them pronouns and I’m the equity representative for the psychology society. I’m studying a BSc with a double major in psychology and statistics.

I spend most of my spare time studying whatever subject happens to catch my interest at the time, or playing in a d&d campaign that’s been running for a couple years now. My most recent fictional interest is the SCP universe, and my most recent non-fictional interest is city design (which is more connected to psychology than you might think!)

Fun fact about me: My current fixation on city design led me to bond with someone I met through a dating app... over Switzerland’s transit system, in our second conversation

Next up we have our sec Kimberley 🫶🏻

Hi, I’m Kimberley and I’m the secretary for Psych Soc. I previously completed a bachelor of performing arts majoring in musical theatre and lived the majority of the last 10 years overseas in places like London, Texas, and Melbourne. I’m now doing a double major in Psyc and Philosophy but outside of uni I am still and avid theatre goer as well as traveller whenever I can. I’m hoping that the world reopens a bit more over the coming years so I can get back out there to explore even more.

Alrighty, so we are kicking off part 2 showing off the rest of the crew!! To start off we have our academic gal Annabelle🤓
Kia ora! I’m Annabelle, I’m 22 years old, and studying a double major in Psychology/Education and minor in Māori and Indigenous Studies.

After completing my degree, I hope to spend a large amount of time travelling the world before returning home to undertake postgraduate studies and a career in psychotherapy/counseling with tamariki. I spend my free time skiing, cooking with friends, or working at your local teapot supplier, Rockpool.

Lastly for today (other half of the crew will be posted soon😉) we have our baddie VP Brittany:
Kia Ora, I’m Brittany, I am 24 and studying a Bachelor in Health Science, Majoring in Psychology. I am hoping to continue into to post grad study and into clinical while maintaining a focus on public health.
Outside of uni I love spending time with family and friends. Boxing and going on walks/hikes with my husband and dog 🐶
I’m definitely a foodie and will never turn town an opportunity to eat good food! 🥟 🌯🥧

Next up we have our other go to gal Sophie:

Gidday I’m Sophie,

I’m one of the two general executives of the PSYC SOC!

I’ve just turned 19, in my first year at Uni. I’m doing a double degree in Criminal Justice and Law. I am vertically challenged (5’2) but my personality makes up for it. In the holidays I make a bit of dough in a wee Irish pub, so I can pour a mean pint. I’m unfortunately Australian but I have kiwi blood, so don’t worry, I support the All blacks 😉

Over and out,

Slim G

Next up we have one of our go to gals Brooke:
Hey guys my name is Brooke, I’m 18 years old and in my first year of university, studying a bachelor criminal justice (wanting to be a criminal psychologist).
In my free time I love long car rides, listening to music and being with friends.💓

Next up we have our finance lass: Heya! I’m Jess, I am 19 and currently I’m in my first year of uni. I’m studying a BA, majoring in psychology!

About me: I’m South African living in NZ for just over 6yrs now. If I’m not busy with uni, you’ll either find me outdoors with my quad bikes or I’ll be catching up on my favourite tv shows🥰

Fun Fact about me: I was part of a “dropped for youth” fundraiser in 2019 for The Graeme Di**le Foundation. And at the end of the fundraiser I “dropped for youth” by doing a 13,000ft skydive!! ✈️

It’s about time we introduce our founding exec team🫶🏻 so to kick start us off we will start with this years president and founder Tom:
Hello! I am Tom, I’m 19 and originally from Tauranga. I’m in my second year of a BSc double majoring in Psychology and Philosophy. I’m super interested in how cities are designed and the impacts which they have on their inhabitants, I really want to do post-graduate study in that field when the time comes. Once I'm done with study I would love to either continuing studying or to make policy to make our cities healthier.

When I’m not at uni you’ll probably catch me adventuring around Christchurch on my bike having an absolute blast, reading an interesting article, or tucked up in bed diving down a Youtube rabbit hole.

If you see me around uni, come introduce yourself! I love meeting people and having a yarn 😁
