Today is Te Rā o Tumeke Tumuaki (Principal's Day), and we want to take a moment to give a huge shout-out to our wonderful Principal, Jo Johnstone! 🌟

Te Rā o Tumeke Tumuaki is our chance to say a heartfelt thank you to principals across Aotearoa for the incredible work they do as the cornerstone of our education system.

So much of the day-to-day work our tumuaki do for our school, our tamariki, and our wider community goes unsung—from early mornings to late-night planning, and everything in between.

Today, we proudly recognise Jo for her unwavering dedication, care, and fantastic leadership. Thank you for everything you do for our school family, Jo! You are truly awesome!

Please refrain from contacting any staff at the school, as this could lead to distraction of their primary focus, which is caring for our tamariki.

Today, on Thursday 25th June, we conducted a scheduled lockdown practice as part of our regular emergency preparedness procedures.

These procedures are in place to ensure we can respond safely and efficiently to a range of situations. We are pleased to report that the practice went very well, with students responding calmly and following instructions appropriately.

Throughout the year, we will continue to carry out emergency practice drills so that both staff and students remain familiar with what to do in an emergency.

If you become aware of a lockdown or evacuation at the school, we kindly ask that you do not come to the school or phone, as we may not be able to respond. Your presence or contact can make it more difficult for staff and emergency services to manage the situation effectively.

Any updates related to an emergency will be shared via Hero as regularly as possible.

We believe that regular practice is important so that everyone is well prepared and confident in following procedures if an emergency occurs.

Our Year 7/8 Winter Volleyball and Netball Teams have been competing in the North Canterbury Winter Sports Competition every Friday this term.

There was plenty of fun competing against other schools. Their efforts were rewarded with many wins along the way.

Ka pai to everyone who participated and gave it their best.
Thank you to Waharai, Mrs Ford and Miss Bell for supporting and coaching these teams.

We look forward to competing and many other teams in the KORU GAMES next term! The biggest South Island Year 7/8 Sports tournament.

Whakamahi to all of children who qualified and competed at the Canterbury Primary Cross Country Competition last week. They gave it their best effort and challenged themselves. Here are some photos of a few of the participants on the day; Mariya, Peyton, Hazel, Chloe, and Jaxon.

A reminder that Pie pick-up is tomorrow, Friday 12 June, 2:30pm - 3:30pm, from the Junior Campus Hall.
