Tony HAWKINS Obituary (2025) - The Press 31/05/2025

In Loving Memory of Tony Hawkins.

With heartfelt sadness, we share that Tony was called home to be with the Lord on May 28, 2025, at Christchurch Hospital, aged 95 years. A devoted husband to the late Kathleen, a cherished father and father-in-law to Loraine and Doug, Paul and Rhoda, Christina and Greg, and a beloved Poppa to Hannah and Nathaniel, Tony’s life was one of faith, love, and quiet strength.
A celebration of Tony’s life and faith will be held at Westpark Chapel, 467 Wairakei Road, Burnside, on Friday, June 6 at 10:00am, followed by an interment at Avonhead Memorial Cemetery.
"Well done, good and faithful servant... Enter into the joy of your Lord." — Matthew 25:21.

Congratulations to MGS alumni, Zach Hannen, for representing New Zealand in the 2025 3x3 FIBA Asia Cup in Singapore and winning the BRONZE medal!! 👏

Youngest team by average age in the entire tournament... 🤯

A huge congratulations to Aidan, Christian, Te Tuhi and Zach for their performances over this past weekend! What an incredible run for such a young team. We're all incredibly proud of your efforts during the tournament!

Another special shoutout to the men behind these lads, Coach Piet van Hasselt and Physio Joe Zhang. Great work in preparing the boys for this one, hard work pays off! 😁
