Getting enough sleep can be one of the biggest challenges, and not just for our little ones. Even now at 9, my wee poppit that started it all, sometimes struggles with getting enough sleep. And it can change her whole week from good, to bad.
I've found one of the most important tools I have to help her is to encourage her to follow a bedtime routine to help her settle down and fall asleep at night. This is so important for babies and toddlers, but for adults and older children too.

How cute are these! I love sleep training clocks to help your little ones know when it is time to get up in the morning. Even better when they are adorable and functional!

I love this so much
Cuddling your babies will help them to become independent and confident when exploring away from you, their safe place ❤
You don't have to stop cuddling or supporting your babies and toddlers to help them sleep better
Hugs, midnight cuddles and comforting have no expiry date.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Breastfeed to sleep and through the night if it works for you mama (it did for me!).
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Lay with your 5 or 8 or 12-year-old as they fall asleep if they need you to (or if you want to!).
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Hold them close.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Forget the milestones and accept the as is of the present moment, the reality of very slow pace of healthy child development. Don't judge or second guess.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Flow, don't resist.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Snuggle with your toddler. Hug your teen. Let them be little. Let yourself fall deeply in love with this new soul who shares your life.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Affection and loving touch cannot "spoil" your child - it is the opposite that's true!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We covet independence as a culture, yet we don't fully understand it. If we did, we wouldn't push our children away. We would have a deep knowing that as my friend .vanessalapointe says, “It is out of the gift of deep dependence that true independence emerges."
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So cuddle those babies, hold your children and when they're ready to start taking steps away, they will.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Couldn’t love these words from more 🙏

I love this article, there needs to be more of them that discuss co-sleeping and all of the wonderful benefits for you and your babies!
I work with a lot of co-sleeping and bed sharing families, and the majority of them have continued this way of sleeping because it works so well for them and their children!
You don't have to move your babies into their own beds or their own rooms to get a good sleep and you don't need to leave them alone to cry, sometimes it just takes a few tweaks to help your little one get the best sleep that they can while snuggled up next to you in bed 💖
Inside the secret world of co-sleepers
It's time to reveal the truth about co-sleepers. Emily Writes exposes the secret lives of families who bed share. I meet her in a dark alley. I hear her before I see her. She's holding a shusher in her hand and it's rhythmically shushing into the deep impenetrable blackness of the night. I assume

I will always come
You are just little and still learning about this new world around you. Sometimes your little tummy is hungry, sometimes you are cold, or lonely, or you just cry.
Sometimes this is hard
I will always come
You are a little bit bigger, starting to give me lots of delicious smiles and giggles. You are starting to sleep a bit longer in your own bed, but every night is different and sometimes you wake more than others.
I will always come
You are now a toddler, running everywhere and busy exploring the big wide world around you. You are becoming more independent, even in your sleep and we have learnt together what works and what doesn't. Sometimes you cry through the night and sometimes you don't.
I will always come
You are now almost 4 and are pretty good at sleeping through the night. Sometimes you still have nightmares and cry for me in the middle of the night.
I will always come
Sometimes it is once, sometimes twice, sometimes four times but no matter if it is the 1st, 2nd or 7th time, I am your mummy and you need me
I will always come 💜

Hows everyone going with the news in New Zealand? There will be a lot of confusion for a week or so once we are in proper lock down! To help get everyone through and to ease the possible sleep deprivation I am offering a discount on my phone consults for anyone who books one during the lock down period.
For only $40 you will receive a full phone consult with email follow up PLUS one week of extra follow up support (usually $119)
Just something small that I can do to help those who might need it in this tricky time.
Stay safe everyone!

Harvard Researchers Say Co-Sleeping Is Actually the 'Norm'
It's the norm in other cultures, so why are we so weird about it?
