With Okinawa-Te Karate Organization New Zealand National Head (Chief) Instructor John William Flavell, now referred to as O'Sensei comes with the official prestige rank of 9th-degree black belt, known in Japanese Karate as (Kudan/Kyudan) which represents an elite, senior master, typically requiring over 40–50 years of dedicated training and immense contributions to the martial art. This rank is often associated with the title Hanshi (master instructor), a title Flavell had already brandished and signified a deep, philosophical, and technical understanding.

Now into his thirty first year as Gordon Alcazar Doversola's appointed National Head or Chief Instructor of New Zealand's Okinawa-Te Karate Organization, this local kiwi has accepted his new title of Southern O' Sensei, in recognition of his outstanding achievements, technical expertise, tempered resolve and unwavering loyalty to his grandmaster and art of Okinawa-Te, John William Flavell is now not only the organizations very first practitioner to obtain a master's level but also has leveled up to the prestigious title of Southern O' Sensei. Cementing his place in history in preserving Gordon Alcazar Doversola's Okinawa-Te legacy.
