Sensory Play Workshop

Sensory play is explorative and creative play, it stimulates a child’s senses of touch, smell, taste, sight and hearing. Sensory play encourages learning through exploration, curiosity, problem solving and creativity. It helps build nerve connections in the brain and encourages the development of language and motor skills. Sensory play provides children a great opportunity to learn through unstructured play.

Matariki Playdough Recipe!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What you need:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2 cups flour⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2 tbsp cooking oil⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1 cup salt⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1 tsp food colouring⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1 cup water ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
(hot water works best)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Stars & Marbles⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Method:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Put flour and salt in bowl. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Mix water, oil and colouring ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
and combine with dry ingredients. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Knead well - extra flour may be required. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Add items such as essences and ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
herbs for different smells and textures.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
