We love seeing the smiles the tamariki have when they are doing play that they love here at preschool. There was nothing but smiles while this little one pushed around her baby doll 💜

Our tamariki had so much fun during P.E our Elevate Minis programme, practising their aim and trying their best to knock down cones using a ball. This simple challenge encouraged lots of learning as children experimented with their throwing strength, direction, and accuracy.

Through active play, tamariki are developing important physical skills such as hand-eye coordination, balance, body awareness, and problem-solving. They learn to adjust their movements, persevere when something feels tricky, celebrate their successes, and encourage one another along the way.

It was wonderful to see the focus, determination, and excitement as each child took their turn, every attempt was a chance to learn, grow, and build confidence.

🌸 Painting from Nature 🌸

The other day our tamariki became little artists as they carefully observed a real flower before creating their own paintings.

With the flower in front of them, they took their time noticing the delicate petals, vibrant colours, unique shapes, and tiny details that make every flower special. As they painted what they could see, they were developing observation skills, creativity, hand-eye coordination, and learning that art is about looking closely and expressing what we notice.

Providing real-life objects to paint encourages children to slow down, appreciate the beauty of nature, and see the world through curious eyes. Every painting was unique, just like the flowers that inspired them.

One of the most rewarding moments is watching a child begin to feel safe, secure, and truly at home in our nursery.

Seeing this little one settle in with big smiles, curious exploration, and happy interactions reminds us that strong, trusting relationships make all the difference. From cuddles with familiar teachers to confidently exploring the environment, every small milestone is a sign that they are building a sense of belonging. We are so grateful to have such low ratios that make these relationships possible.

We feel privileged to be part of these early days, creating a warm and nurturing space where every child feels loved, supported, and free to explore at their own pace. 💕

Happy Friendship Day!

Today we celebrated the special people who make our days at preschool brighter, our friends!

Our tamariki spent the day enjoying meaningful activities that celebrated kindness, connection, and belonging. We created beautiful friendship bracelets to share, made special scrapbook pages filled with photos of our friends, and decorated each page with lots of creativity and love. Of course, there was also plenty of time for playing, laughing, and making wonderful memories together.

Friendships formed in the early years help children develop empathy, communication, confidence, and a sense of belonging. Watching these connections grow is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do.

There is something so heartwarming about watching tamariki sit with their own learning stories and profile books, turning the pages and remembering the moments, experiences, and discoveries that have shaped their journey.

As they look back through their photos, stories, and achievements, they begin to recognise themselves as capable learners. They remember the friendships they have built, the challenges they have overcome, the things they have created, and the many little moments where their curiosity has led the way.

We feel so privileged to walk alongside our tamariki, capturing these precious moments that will be cherished for years to come. 💕

With your basket and my basket, the people will thrive.

Our tamariki have been exploring early mathematics by counting, matching, and sorting colourful counting bears using laminated number cards. These simple activities help build important foundational skills such as number recognition, one-to-one correspondence, counting, problem-solving, and critical thinking.

To extend the learning even further, our kaiako introduced the numbers in both English and Chinese, giving our tamariki the opportunity to hear another language in a natural and meaningful way. Experiences like this support language development while fostering an appreciation for the diverse cultures and languages that make up our community.

As little hands carefully pick up and place each bear, tamariki are also strengthening their fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, concentration, and confidence.
