Today we experimented with making play dough using just flour, baking soda, and hot water! 🤩

The tamariki discovered the dough was much stickier than normal play dough, making it harder to mould and shape.

Through this hands on experience, children strengthened their fine motor skills by squeezing, rolling, and shaping the dough, while also developing language skills through conversations about textures, problem solving, and sharing ideas 🧠🤲🔍

This experience links to Te Whāriki through Exploration | Mana Aotūroa and Communication | Mana Reo, encouraging curiosity, creativity, and learning through play. 😊

Our tamariki had so much fun exploring letters and colours through a hands on matching activity! 🌈🔤

The children searched for the correct letters & numbers, and matched them to the written ones on the paper. They also found the matching coloured blocks. This playful learning experience helped support letter recognition, colour recognition, fine motor skills, concentration, and problem-solving skills - all while having fun and working together! 💛💙❤️💚

We love creating engaging activities that encourage learning through play and build confidence in early literacy and cognitive development. Ka pai everyone! 👏✨

A simple tray of Mobilo can become so much more when creativity and imagination take over ✨

Today the tamariki transformed loose parts into all kinds of unique creations — from vehicles and towers to imaginative inventions all of their own. Through open-ended play like this, children are developing problem-solving skills, spatial awareness, perseverance, creativity and confidence as they test out their ideas and bring them to life.

We love seeing how one resource can inspire so many different ways of thinking and creating

There’s something so special about reading together at home. 💙📚

This week we’ve loved seeing families enjoying stories like Bluey: Baby Race, a beautiful reminder that babies and children are all different, develop in their own time, and definitely don’t come with manuals. 💛

Reading at home together helps children to:
• build language and communication skills
• develop imagination and curiosity
• strengthen emotional connection and security
• create positive routines and calming moments
• grow a lifelong love of books and learning

Stories like *Baby Race* also remind us as parents and educators that there is no “perfect” timeline. Every child learns, grows, and reaches milestones in their own unique way and that’s exactly how it should be. 🌱

We are so grateful to be part of your family’s journey and to support your little ones as they grow, learn, and shine in their own time. Thank you for sharing these special moments with us. ✨

Today our tamariki explored the meaning of kindness as we celebrated Pink Shirt Day 💖

We talked about ways we can make others feel happy, included, and safe. The children shared thoughtful ideas about helping friends, using kind words, playing together, and making others smile. Their beautiful “Kindness Counts” display reminds us that even small acts of kindness can make a big difference.

At Rosy Cheeks we are proud to support Pink Shirt Day NZ and promote a culture of kindness, respect, and inclusion every day. 💕

👣 Tiny Feet, Big Masterpieces! 🎨✨

Today the tamariki (children) had so much fun stepping their waewae (feet) into paint and walking along a big roll of paper to create colourful footprints! 🎨👣

This playful activity supported:
🌈 Sensory exploration through textures and colours
💪 Physical development with balance and coordination
🤝 Social skills through sharing space and encouraging friends
🎨 Creativity and self-expression through movement and art

There were lots of giggles, messy feet, and happy smiles as the children explored and created together! ❤️
