In today's interconnected world, cultural diversity is a powerful tool for development. It can help bridge gaps between communities, reduce conflicts and promote mutual understanding. Meet Lom, from Cambodia. Lom travels to Nelson to the Cambodian Temple, to celebrate the Cambodian New Year every April. Read about the marriage ceremony in her article.

Cultural diversity is not just about celebrating different traditions, languages and customs. it's about recognising the value that each culture brings to the global community. Meet Paramjeet, who comes from Punjab, India. Paramjeet loves the colourful long trousers and long top - traditional Punjabi clothes - topped off with a Kathmandu jacket because...you guessed it, it's cold in NZ!!

Tomorrow marks the World Day for Cultural Diversity - this reminds us of the richness of our world's cultures and the essential role of intercultural dialogue. We are featuring some of our learners from 2024 who shared a little about their background. Today we meet Ikram from Somalia. Ikram speaks three languages, and finds NZ a safe place to live (although a bit cold!!)
