The Wonders of Nature Well-being of tamariki is important to us all. One of the things that supports this is time in nature. A growing body of research also shows the benefits to tamariki of time spent...

Guided by the Ones We Raise

We often think of ourselves as the guides, the ones responsible for teaching our children about life. But if we pay attention, we soon realize they are also teaching us—every single day.

They remind us how to marvel at the simplest things, how to laugh freely, how to ask why without hesitation. They show us what it means to live in the present, unburdened by the weight of yesterday or the worries of tomorrow. Their honesty, their emotions—so raw and unfiltered—teach us to be more authentic, to feel without shame, to love without conditions.

As they grow, they challenge us. They hold up a mirror to our beliefs, our habits, our blind spots. They push us to evolve, to let go of rigid expectations, to listen more deeply. They teach us patience, resilience, and the art of letting go.

And one of their greatest lessons? That love is not about control, but about presence. That our role is not to mold them, but to walk beside them as they become who they are meant to be.
So, in the quiet moments—when they reach for our hand, when they ask a question that stops us in our tracks, when they move through the world with wonder—we learn. And we become better for it.

From outdoor classrooms to community gardens, these experiences not only enhance learning but also promote emotional well-being and teamwork.
Let’s continue to champion nature-based education and empower the next generation to thrive! 💚 https://bit.ly/4gIX4mT

“Parenting has nothing to do with perfection. Perfection isn’t even the goal, not for us, not for our children. Learning together to live well in an imperfect world, loving each other despite or even because of our imperfections, and growing as humans while we grow our little humans, those are the goals of gentle parenting. So don’t ask yourself at the end of the day if you did everything right. Ask yourself what you learned and how well you loved, then grow from your answer. That is perfect parenting.”
