It’s been a while since I introduced myself here 🌱Ko Sian Crowley toku ingoa. My name is Sian Crowley.
As a child, I was endlessly curious about the natural world. I asked questions, explored outside, and found wonder in the small moments that often go unnoticed.
That curiosity has shaped everything I do today.
I believe creating intergenerational change in our relationship with the environment begins with curiosity, because connection is where care begins.
Through The Seed Pod, I hope to create more opportunities for people to pause, notice and discover their place within the natural world 🌿

There is something so special about meeting an animal you've only ever known through books, documentaries and stories.
I expected to notice their size.
Instead, I noticed the ripples through their fur, impossibly long claws, wet noses, and wonderfully derpy expressions.
Travel has a way of replacing expectations with observations, and I think that's one of my favourite parts of exploring a new place. 🐻

Travelling reminded me that every ecosystem has its own wonderfully chaotic characters—and they're best appreciated where they belong.
Canada Diaries 🇨🇦 Part 2
Some species capture your imagination before you ever meet them.
For me, on this trip, that was the hummingbird.
I arrived in Canada hoping I might catch a glimpse of these tiny flashes of colour, and somehow, within days, they became one of the creatures that made me feel most connected to this new landscape.

Climate Action Campus Ōtautahi field trip as part of ❤️ Participants took part in bioblitz activities alongside CitSciNZ, and toured around CAC, each planting a tree to finish off. It was a pleasure to plan and facilitate!

“I noticed that the moon would change a little bit every day as I went running after work.
Because it was the same time each day, I noticed it change in size and position, going from new moon, to a half moon, to a full moon.
It was cool to notice that organically. Now I try to notice it more.”
