What is the benefit of playdough? From our Pepe through to school leavers this resource allows tamariki to explore schemas, develop wonder and curiosity through their senses and to use their imaginations to represent life skills, favourite books and the world they live in. It was great to see our parents have a go alongside their children

We have started a new ritual to honour our tamariki leaving to attend Kura. The child turning 5 gets to choose a few friends to go our for fluffy at Urban Espresso - Te Ara Ātea. The boys had fun walking down to the Selwyn Libraries in town and loved the fluffy with friends. Parents were there with kaiako as it is also about farewelling the parents from our whānau and letting them know how much they have meant to our team over the years.
Have fun at school!

This year, we're supporting The Kindness Collective's PJ Project.
Up until the 12th June, we'll be collecting brand new pyjamas - our centre is a drop-off point if you'd like to donate in person, or you can donate online if that's easier.

Every pair of pyjamas makes a real difference - helping bring comfort, kindness, and a little extra warmth to tamariki across Aotearoa who need it most 🫶
Our centre is a drop-off point if you'd like to donate pyjamas in person, or you can easily donate money online if that's easier.

Yesterday, a Kaiako brought in some flower seeds for us to plant. The children in Puawai and Pakari, who wanted to garden put some gloves on and started helping Karen. We dug up the dirt in the barrel and also inside the tyres, at the back of the playground. We topped up the dirt with potting mix and then each child was given a few seeds to plant in the dirt. The tamariki were so helpful and were keen to learn about every step that we took from preparing the garden, planting and then watering the seeds so they will grow. Well done Tamariki. Good work. Ka pai to mahi.

While waiting for my new administrator to start in a few weeks, I’ve been lucky to have one of tamariki helping me out this morning. Look at the concentration on his face while he focussed on forming letters. Awesome work!

Today, our 2-3 year olds went for a short walk around the block We stopped to pick up some leaves, and talked about how the trees have changed colour and dropped the leaves. We saw 4 dogs and one black cat! The learners were so excited to wave at the people in the cars as they went past, and got so excited when they waved back! Being able to explore our community is becoming an important part of our curriculum.

ANZAC day is an opportunity to honour those who have fought to protect ours, and our allies, freedom and way of life. Tamariki created a wreath this week that was laid at the cenotaph during today’s remembrance.
Lest we forget
