It's always fun to mix things up every now and then, and this week we were delighted to welcome Roy Knight from Aranui Toastmasters who came and gave us a stand out educational on how to put together a winning Humorous Speech. Thanks Roy, the team took loads of tips and insights from your lively - and very funny - presentation 🔥

Exaggerate, go large and go loud are tips that will stay with us for sure, and that we hope to see in play in our Humorous contest later this month.

We were also encouraged and inspired to use more te reo Māori throughout the meeting by Grammarian Tsarina, who set the tone with a karakia and shared a colourful kupu prompt with us all

And the Toastie award this time went to Hannah Drury for her excellent evaluation and recommendations for Stu and his latest speech on his Coast to Coast adventure. Well done Hannah 💪

A very happy Natalie, being awarded the Toastie this past Friday!

Natalie was recognised with our beloved Toastie award, after delivering a strong and observant evaluation of a club educational from our club president, Louise. In true Natalie fashion, there were a few laughs, and some valuable tips for everyone in the room, not just the speaker!

We love a quiz at Boaters Toastmasters! 😄

Back from a lengthy overseas visit with friends and whānau, our Toastmaster of the Day, Lucie, presented a meeting theme of "There You Are", reflecting on the threads of who we are, and how they often are apparent from our earliest days.

Working in small teams based on those sitting around you, we got to guess the "who's who" and the grand reveal was made to conclude the meeting.

It's fun meetings like this that have fellow members saying, "Thanks team, I love our meetings, I always get something out of it." ❤️

And that's exactly what we're here for; fun, connection, and leaving every meeting with something to take away.

Jeremy took out the Toastie award this week! 🏆

Presented by Lucie for his role as General Evaluator at Friday’s meeting — no small task when you’re keeping an eye on the whole room!

Jeremy did a fantastic job of bringing everything together, acknowledging the contributions of everyone who took on a role, and offering thoughtful tips and encouragement along the way.

Evaluation isn’t just about feedback — it’s about helping each other grow, one meeting at a time. After all, that's what we show up for. 💪

Earlier this month, club president and one of our seasoned Toastmasters, Louise, challenged us to throw the agenda out the window and embrace the unknown! 🎩

Instead of our usual meeting agenda, every member drew their role out of a hat as they arrived... including speech assignments!

At 7am on a Friday morning, that meant thinking on your feet, stepping outside your comfort zone, and trusting yourself to give it a go. Boaters really embraced the word of the day "Spontaneous!" and as always, our members rose to the challenge with plenty of creativity, laughter, and encouragement along the way.

A new Toastmasters year is underway! 🎉

Friday morning's meeting was a special one as we celebrated both the start of the new Toastmasters year and Matariki.

We were also delighted to welcome Lovey to Friday's meeting as our new Southern Division Director. She shared a beautiful Matariki waiata during her bulletin, and it was a lovely way to acknowledge the occasion.

Congratulations on your new role, Lovey! We're looking forward to seeing you throughout the year.

With Matariki this Friday, we'll be taking a short break, so there'll be no meeting this week. We hope everyone enjoys the long weekend, and we'll see you back at our next meeting, Friday 17th July.
