“As soon as the Committee began its questions, I knew we were in the right place at the right time. The questioning was fast, direct, and showed they understood the situation in detail.” — Roimata Smail, on the UN trip to deliver evidence of government discrimination against Māori.

TOITŪ TE TIRITI HAS FILED AN URGENT WAITANGI TRIBUNAL CLAIM We invite you to join the kaupapa – link below: https://forms.office.com/r/iezFNJ7Wwt

Our claim calls on the Tribunal to investigate major breaches of Te Tiriti o Waitangi that may arise if the Regulatory Standards Bill (RSB) becomes law and breaches that have already occurred during the public consultation process.

The RSB is set to change New Zealand’s constitutional framework without Māori consent. This could harm Māori rights now and in the future by undermining Te Tiriti and imposing ACT Party principles over every law in Aotearoa.

Under the RSB, the Minister for Regulation (David Seymour) and his Ministry would gain sweeping powers to:

 • Review any legislation or regulations for any government agency

 • Demand information from any government agencies, councils, and even third party contractors

 • Recommend changes to laws once reviewed to require them to align with ACT Party principles.

We believe these powers could be used to strip away our Treaty rights in our current laws through the government’s Treaty Clause Review process.

This could affect health, education, the environment, Te Reo Māori, and even lead to the removal of the Waitangi Tribunal itself.

Unlike the Treaty Principles Bill, the government has agreed to push this through quickly.
