Term 3 is a busy term in the life of our kura. Please see the practice exam timetable below.

Practice exams are running from Thursday 7 September to Wednesday 13 September. Morning exams start at 9am - students need to arrive by 8:30am. Afternoon exams start at 1pm - students need to arrive by 12:30pm. Please note that part-time students may have an exam at a time that they would not normally attend school.

For all students in Year 11-13 who will be sitting external NCEA exams in November, it is very important to attend these practice exams as results will form the basis of any derived grades.

Students who have an exam clash need to see Michaela Heenan in the Enrolment Centre ASAP so she can make alternative arrangements for you.

No senior classes will run over these five days to allow students to focus on their exams. Some teachers may make arrangements with groups of students e.g. Art, to continue working on portfolios during this week.

ALL Year 9 and 10 Junior College classes will continue as normal throughout the week, as will specialist courses and English Language Learner (ELL) classes. After 3 evening classes also continue as normal.

All classes return to the normal timetable from Thursday 14 September.

Year 11-13 students, please check the timetable and make sure you know when and where your practice exams are taking place! Best of luck. We know you'll do great 鉂わ笍馃憤

What a great night it was last night at Cowles Stadium as Te Puna Wai o Waipapa competed in not one, but two Basketball finals!

We took out the girls' trophy by beating Ashburton College convincingly 68-40. Huge well done to the girls and Will Smit the coach. It was an outstanding effort. Lily Tonascia had a great game and was awarded the MVP award.

Then came the boys! After watching Hornby鈥檚 warm up I thought we were in for a tough game. We played out of our skin and took the game comfortably in the end 89-71. Tyler Fairweather-Salkeld was named MVP, putting on an absolute show! He was outstanding and well supported by his team mates too. Big congratulations to the boys and Anna and Bridget who do an amazing job with this team both on and off the court!

To all of the support that showed up last night, thank you for representing our school so well! To the coaches and players, I am most proud of the way we played - not just the result. We are fair, respectful and competitive opposition. What more could you want?

Interestingly, we are the first school to do the double on the same night鈥ver! We will always be the first to do that!

Have a great day everyone! There will be some kids (and adults) walking around with some big smiles on their faces, and so they should.

A table of cancelled books and magazines will be outside the library for a couple of days. Lots of good stuff! Have at it! 馃憤

Well, it sometimes takes a visitor for you just to realise how special our place is! The Minister Jan Tinetti MP had a great time here and I was just so proud of our students, our staff and our two new buildings.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to it being such a successful visit! From a warm kapa haka welcome, to student-made barista coffee, to a showcase of teaching and learning in our new buildings!

It is fair to say I am just buzzing! A nice chance to say thank you to everyone who works here as we all create this culture every day. And for that I am very grateful.

Hope everyone is keeping warm...

Just a reminder to Year 13s that most university scholarships close next Tuesday 15th August, so make sure you get those applications in!

If you are thinking about study at the University of Canterbury next year, why not apply for one of their Te Kakau a M膩ui 150th Anniversary Scholarships?
