It’s over halfway through the week 🤍

If this week has felt challenging, come back to what anchors you. The small things that shift your day, like a good coffee, fresh air, a short walk, or something yum to eat.

Make a few intentional moments just for you. Even when things feel a bit chaotic, you can still find ways to ground yourself 💛

With Anzac Day coming up at the end of this week, it can be hard to find space to kōrero about its significance alongside the busyness of a new term. It does, though, offer an important chance to reflect on our Aotearoa history and the people who have served and protected us.

One way to approach it is through connection and movement. The story of the 28th Māori Battalion and the sharing of Kī-o-rahi offers a meaningful, engaging way for tamariki to connect with history.

A reminder from us as the term starts to wind up - there's big emotions, and days that don't quite go as planned... take time for yourself to rest, reset, and begin again tomorrow.

These end of term reflection prompts can help you start up a conversation about the term that is not just academic, but instead focused on their overall growth.

They create space for tamariki to recognise their wins, work through challenges and notice how they’ve grown as people, not just as learners 💚

As the term moves along, it’s easy to get caught up in giving all of your energy to others. But small, intentional moments throughout your day can make a real difference to how you feel.

Whether it’s sharing a laugh with your tamariki, stepping outside for a quick reset in te taiao, or taking a moment to breathe and ground yourself, these practices can help you come back to yourself.

You deserve to feel well, energised, and supported too.

Try this simple activity with your class by inviting tamariki to notice and share the places that are meaningful to them. It might be the field they love to play on, a tree they always climb, or a quiet space they enjoy spending time in.

Ask tamariki to draw or photograph three special places and share why they matter to them. It is an easy way to build whanaungatanga in your classroom, helping tamariki learn more about each other while giving you a chance to connect more deeply with your class.

Let us know if you add this activity into your day 💚

Ngahuru (Autumn) mindful colouring activity 🍂🍁
https://www.manahau.nz/activities/ngahuru-mindful-colouring

There's something about getting out the crayons or pencils and just letting your mind relax as you fill in those little spaces. It's like a form of meditation, helping tamariki (or anyone) to de-stress and unwind from the day.

Colouring can also be a great mood booster! It can help us focus our mind on something positive and relaxing, giving us a break from any worries or negative thoughts.

Let us know if you try this one out 🧡
