**trigger Warning**
My Partner and I are doing a Social Action assessment for our Law and Psychology class. Part of the assessment we're doing, is to pick a Law that we are unhappy with, and to change it. My Partner and I decided that we wanted to change a Law in the Crimes Act 1961, Part 7: Sexual Conduct with a person under 16. We are unhappy that these predators are only in prison for a term not exceeding 10 years. The psychological trauma that one can impose on another is absolutely shocking. Do you know kids who are effected by sexual assault are likely to suffer from; depression, anxiety, eating disorders, drug and alcohol abuse? We are unhappy that these victims are likely to be plagued with mental and physical challenges throughout adulthood, while their perpetrator only serves a term in prison not exceeding 10 years. We want your opinion. We want change.
