Hello everyone. I am opening up one after school tutoring slot for this term with the possibility of continuing into 2026. Get in touch if your child needs any help in Maths and/or English and they are in Year 0-10. Thanks and have a great day🙂

Welcome to 2025! I will be taking a break from tutoring for the time being. I have accepted a permanent full time role which will be keeping me busy. Thank you for all of your support, it has absolutely been my pleasure🙂

I haven’t posted for a while! It’s been busy saying goodbye to students and meeting others. Two of my Year 11 students sit exams over the next two weeks and I feel as if I am taking them myself. You invest a lot of yourself in this line of work and the success of your students is felt just as if it was your own. Then it’s back to poppets learning their letter sounds and you appreciate just how far they have come. Everyone can learn, sometimes you just need to find the key to help them unlock their potential. 🥰

Another 2 year celebration today🤩I started seeing J when she was in Year 9. She is now in Year 11 and doing NCEA. The hard work and effort is all hers but it’s so nice to be a part of it and watch her pass and know it’s all been worthwhile. We had donuts but teens are a bit shy about getting their photo taken💡😉.

Two years! I had my first lesson with Zane on September 15, 2022. We’ve had over 60 hours of learning together. He was my first student after I finished my SLD qualification and his progress has been astounding. Not only that, he is super cool and easy to work with. For some reason, we eat donuts on anniversary dates at tutoring. I’m not sure how that started but no one seems to mind🤩🍩

It has been a quiet start to Term 3 with a late start and then a lot of sickness but we have managed to forge ahead with our learning. Place value, silent e, sentence structure, conversion, beginning and end blends and a new game to test listening and reflexes👊

Times tables workshop success! I’m a true believer that everyone is able to learn, sometimes you just have to unlock that learning in whatever ways work. That graph is very satisfying and shows steady growth over the week from all students. Well done 🥳

Success is not always this linear, but when it is, it is very validating and exciting☺️. A parent sent me this and I am so happy! As a teacher/tutor you sometimes wonder if you are making a difference. Assessment informs my practice, that is a fact, but there is no test for confidence and self belief. However, that hike on the graph below must surely help🥰.

When Adelia got to my house today, she brought my mail in and was captivated by a letter my daughter received. She was determined that she wanted to write a letter and post it too. So that’s what we did😍. If Mr Birch was feeling unwell before, I think he will be much better now.
