I’ve had a very satisfying week with these kids and I have really noticed things starting to click. I don’t even think they notice the changes sometimes, but I do. It can be an answer that comes more quickly, less hesitation when completing an activity, or remembering a concept or vocabulary covered weeks ago. I think it helps that we follow the same routine every week which means we seamlessly flow from one activity to the next while slowly building in complexity. I love doing what I do🥰.

A variety of activities for a variety of needs. Sometimes filling gaps in learning requires many exposures in many different ways until something makes it stick. This can be a slow process at times, but this repetition and practice is so important for the SLD learner. I never assume a learner has understood, I review and check over and over.

I haven’t posted for a while! It’s been busy saying goodbye to students and meeting others. Two of my Year 11 students sit exams over the next two weeks and I feel as if I am taking them myself. You invest a lot of yourself in this line of work and the success of your students is felt just as if it was your own. Then it’s back to poppets learning their letter sounds and you appreciate just how far they have come. Everyone can learn, sometimes you just need to find the key to help them unlock their potential. 🥰
