A huge thankyou to our neighbour who stopped 3 teenagers doing more damage to our property. If this hero hadnt scared them off and rung the police, who knows how much more damage they would have done. The police were able to catch these idiots shortly after. We luckily only ended up with 2 broken windows downstairs and three cracked glass panels on the deck, Thanks to Brett at ASAP Glass and Glazing Ltd we had the broken windows fixed (while pouring with rain) in no time at all.
Also a huge thanks to the pollce who caught the culprits and secured the building until we got there
It's nice knowing we are located in such a lovely community that looks after each other.

COVID-19 UPDATE
Dear parents/whanau
Early childhood education is considered an essential service, so we are not able to ask parents if they have been vaccinated, but all visitors and parents are required to wear a mask. The Ministry of Education ha informed us that all parents and visitors must wear a face mask inside the premises. As of Friday 4th of February a face covering will need to be a actual mask and attached to the head by loops either around the ears or the head. This means that scarves, headbands and t-shirts cannot be used as masks
As we look to prepare for the increase in Omicron we are continually trying to make sure we keep your children who are unvaccinated and unmasked and our teachers who are vaccinated but unmasked as safe as possible.
We have decided from next week the 31st of January, to follow the procedure of parents signing in at the front door and dropping/collecting bags and leaving/collecting children at the front door. There will be a buzzer on the wall and a table to leave the bags. Please also remember to keep a 2 metre distance between others. If the entrance has people already waiting, can you please wait in your car until there is room. We are sorry if this causes an inconvenience and we will have a leeway of 5 minutes before drop off times.
How to Say Goodbye at Drop Off and Avoid the Tears - Baby Chick
We will keep a lookout for parents and try and make sure the children’s belongings are packed ready for you when you arrive. Teachers will still be able to have a quick chat with parents but we will provide an area outside where teachers can mask up if you require a meeting with a teacher. We will of course still be allowing parents onsite to settle children.

Cooking can be a great thing to do with your kids during lockdown, encouraging skills such as counting, hand eye co-ordination and estimating quantities and volumes. It can also help your child to become a more adventurous eater. If you want to give it a go but don't know where to start we have two great links for you ( maybe you might even find something here that could double as a fathers day present):
1/. The first link is to a website called Healthy Little Foodies, it has a bunch of great recipes and food ideas for all ages and includes ideas for pretty much everything including lunchbox ideas, mfinger food for babies and some information about how and why you should cook with kids: https://www.healthylittlefoodies.com/the-benefits-of-cooking-with-kids/
2/. The second link is to a BBC Good food page, that has a bunch of recipes that you can make with or for your kids: https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/collection/kids-cooking-recipes
The Benefits of Cooking with Kids - Healthy Little Foodies Although it requires time, patience, and some extra clean-up, especially when the children are younger, the benefits of cooking with kids are worth it.
