At Annabelās, we embrace every opportunity summer brings to enhance our play-based learning approach. The warm weather allows our tamariki to explore, discover, and thrive in outdoor environments ā an integral part of how we teach and inspire.
Play-based learning is at the heart of what we do because it nurtures curiosity, builds confidence, and fosters essential skills in a way that feels natural and joyful. Summer gives us even more opportunities to expand this:
š Water Play: Exploring the properties of water introduces early science concepts while developing problem-solving and motor skills.
š³ Outdoor Adventures: Nature provides a rich learning environment where tamariki can ask questions, investigate, and connect with the world around them.
š¤ Building Relationships: Group activities outdoors encourage cooperation, communication, and the development of social skills.
šļø Physical Development: Running, jumping, and engaging in outdoor play supports both gross and fine motor skill growth.
We are truly honoured to have been a part of this family's journey, watching five little ones grow and thrive at Annabelās. š
Hearing how much our incredible teachers, thoughtfully designed learning spaces, and open communication mean to families like theirs is what makes our work so special.
We believe in creating a place where children can explore, learn, and build confidence, while parents feel connected and assured every step of the way. Knowing weāve made such a positive impact is the greatest reward, and weāre so grateful for the kind words and trust placed in us. š
To any families looking for a nurturing, supportive environment for their little one ā weād love to welcome you into the Annabelās family too! š¶āØ
This playful activity is more than just a little magic ā itās a powerful way to help children develop early literacy skills while sparking their imagination! šØāļø
Hereās why we love Magic Letters at Annabelās:
Letter Recognition: Watching the hidden letters appear makes learning the alphabet exciting and memorable! š¤
Fine Motor Skills: Using a paintbrush helps little hands strengthen coordination and control. šļø
Sensory Exploration: The āmagicā of the letters emerging through paint creates an engaging sensory experience. š
Language Development: As children shout out the letters and their sounds, theyāre building vocabulary and communication skills. š£ļøāØ
Activities like this show how fun and learning go hand in hand. What magical moments will your child create today? š

The children at Annabelās are learning all about sustainability, composting, and caring for our environment in our purpose-built West Melton garden!ššæ
From tending the garden to collecting eggs from our chicken coop, these hands-on experiences are giving our tamariki a love for nature that will last a lifetime. šš±
Did you know that the first three years of a childās life are the most critical for their development? š± Research shows that ages 0-3 are vital for sensory, motor, cognitive, and emotional growth, with little ones hitting major milestones like sitting, crawling, walking, and speaking.
During this rapid phase of brain development, early experiences are key in shaping neural connections. Bonding, attachment, and learning through sensory play lay the foundation for a childās future learning and emotional well-being.
At Annabelās, we nurture this crucial period with play-based learning, a focus on strong connections between teachers and children, and encouraging healthy relationships with peers. With our low teacher-to-child ratio, each child receives the individual attention and care they need to thrive. š
At Annabelās, we understand that every familyās needs are different, which is why we offer tailored fee and donation schedules for our youngest children, unique to each of our centres.
For children aged 0-3, fees apply, and weāre happy to discuss the specific schedules that work best for you and your child. Just get in touch with us to learn more! š
For children aged 3-5, we offer 6 hours of free ECE per day, up to a maximum of 20 hours per week. Any additional hours beyond this will be subject to a fee.
We also support families through WINZ Income Support Childcare subsidies, making quality early education accessible to more families. š
Feel free to contact us for more details or to discuss whatās right for your family. Weāre always here to help! š
At Annabelās, the health and safety of your child is always our top priority. To ensure every childās dietary needs and safety are met, we have a policy where parents provide their little oneās meals. This approach allows us to cater to specific food allergies and sensitivities with extra care š
By bringing meals from home, children enjoy the comfort and familiarity of their favourite foods, making mealtimes a happy and stress-free part of their day. Plus, having lunchboxes helps prepare our older tamariki for the transition to school, teaching them responsibility and encouraging independence with their meals š„Ŗ
This thoughtful approach lets us focus on what we do best ā providing the highest quality education and care for your children in a safe and nurturing environment š
Choosing the right centre for your little one is such an important decision, and weāre here to help make it easier. Whether youād like to see our centres firsthand or discuss your childās specific needs, weāre always happy to assist. š
Feel free to contact us directly by phone or email to arrange a tour at your local Annabelās centre. Our friendly team is ready to answer any questions and help you find the perfect environment for your childās early years. š¶āØ
At Annabelās Avonhead, we have three carefully designed classrooms for children: our nursery, toddler room, and preschool.
In the nursery, we focus on building strong relationships with families, ensuring open and regular communication. We encourage parents to visit with their child during the settling-in period. We provide daily updates through calls and texts, and a dedicated book for under-ones; so youāll always know how your little one is doing.
The toddler room is a nurturing space where children begin developing their independence. They learn to take care of their belongings and build confidence.
Our preschool offers a larger, dynamic environment where tamariki have plenty of room to explore, play, and grow. We also partner with Avonhead School, making regular visits to help prepare children for a smooth transition when they start school.
Weād love to invite you to come and see our centre. You can learn more on our website or give us a call!
