R U OK? Day is a beautiful opportunity to help children understand that everyone is different, and that’s something to celebrate! We all have different feelings, personalities, cultures, abilities and experiences, and learning to respect and embrace those differences helps create a kinder, more inclusive world.

Through simple conversations, acts of kindness and learning to notice when someone might need a little extra care, we can help our children build the confidence and compassion to support those around them.

From curiosity to meaningful learning!

After a freezing cold day and fresh snow on the mountains, our tamariki were full of excitement and questions about snow, ice and the animals that live in polar environments.

Our kaiako transformed this curiosity into an invitation to explore, creating a tabletop polar world where children could investigate, imagine and share their ideas. The following day, the experience was thoughtfully extended with additional resources, allowing tamariki to revisit their learning, build on previous discoveries and deepen their understanding through play.

By following children’s interests, we create learning experiences that are engaging, meaningful and evolve over time because some of the best learning happens when curiosity is nurtured, not rushed. 💙

Today we’re celebrating the many ways our tamariki show kindness, care, and manaakitanga in our community.

At Annabel’s West Melton, Melton the Monster helps teach our tamariki the meaning of manaakitanga! Showing kindness, care, respect, and helping others. When tamariki display these beautiful values, they earn the special opportunity to take Melton home for an adventure! 🦎✨

As part of our commitment to caring for others, our New Brighton tamariki recently walked to our local Community Food Pantry to deliver donations generously contributed by our whānau. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with our community and demonstrate kindness in action. 💚

On World Caring Day, we’re proud to celebrate the small acts of kindness that make a big difference and help create a caring, connected community. 🌿✨
