Daffodil Day is an annual campaign by Cancer Society. It aims to help raise money for cancer research and more. During this event, people like to celebrate by creating fundraisers, donating money, and, of course, wearing a yellow daffodil.

Today our tamariki supported this good cause by dressing up in yellow, having a delicious morning tea and donating money for more research and helping people in need. 💛

Today our tamariki have been making planets out of cardboard to make stamps. Thank you to our Breens buddies Breens Intermediate School for helping to make these stamps and role modelling how to create an awesome artwork. They have also been learning about what an astronaut wears and the importance of wearing these special uniforms. The moon sand was fascinating to touch and learning how to make craters out of marbles. Ka pai te mahi.

Kia ora,

As part of our tamariki interest in space we have been learning about our solar system. Today they made some cookies and created them into Earth. 🌍 They have explored how the Earth moves around the sun which makes day and night and what planets are in our solar system. They have been fascinated about the stars ✨ and moon 🌘 you can see in the night sky.

Kia ora, BCP had a wonderful time celebrating Matariki together. This involved storytime with Justice, disco, performance from our tamariki and star hunting.

Matariki is a time where people, whānau, and communities gather together to remember the year that has passed, to celebrate the present, and to plan for the next year. It is a time to remember our loved ones who are no longer with us, to feast and celebrate with our relatives and friends, and to look towards the future and the hope of a season full of bounty.

Matariki learning: our tamariki have been helping in the garden. Removing the old plants, reworking the soil and replanting new vegetables. We planted broccoli, cabbage and kale. Next they helped to water and cover the plants with a frost cloth to protect it from the winter weather. What great helpers! 😃👨‍🌾👩‍🌾

Taking a walk to Bishopdale Mall and learning about our community. Our tamariki posted some mail at the letterbox. They even went to the library and chose some books to bring back to Bishopdale Community Preschool. Fun times and a great learning experience. They spotted areas that were familiar to them.
