Getting up, close, & personal with the EX60.

20/07/2026

Purchased after being inspired by Kiwi motorsport icon Robbie Francevic's inaugural Wellington 500 street race win back in 1985, this Volvo 760 was the pride of joy for our customer Andrew's mother. Andrew reports there have been a few Volvos in the family ever since.

Thank you to Andrew for sharing the photo and this special memory.

Following his win in Wellington, one year later Robbie would go onto win the 1986 Australian Touring Car Championship in the Mark Petch Motorsports Volvo that was nicknamed the “Flying Brick”. Robbie sadly passed away this month, aged 84. Rest in peace, Robbie.

Electric cars are the norm now, but as usual Volvo Cars was lightyears ahead of the pack. In 1976 they introduced the 'Elbil' - Swedish for electric car.

Coming in two variants (either two doors or four) and with a sliding door. They were never sold to the public, but put to work instead. Powered by 12 6-volt batteries, they reached a top speed of 70 km/h and had a range of 50 km.

How's that for cool?
