Recommended Daily Macronutrient Ranges have been around for years…
…and over those years scientists have never wavered on their recommendations 🤔
Yet modern diet advocates encourage substantial differences to these ranges, vilifying foods and food groups…
…could it be someone wants to sell you something and wants to do so in a way that gives them a regular cashflow 🤔
Not me!
Yes I charge but my goal is that you’ll never need to pay me again once you’re on your way, or pay money towards another modern diet ever again!
It is possible to eat anything and lose weight…
…it’s all about doing it SAFELY and SUSTAINABLY (portion control and frequency)

When I ask people what they believe contributes to overweight and obesity in our modern world, I nearly always hear “willpower” as an answer…
…but willpower, in my opinion, is the last thing we need to consider.
Navigating our food intake and habits is hard! You’ve got greedy corporates spending money on research into how they can spike your dopamine with their foods, and a modern food landscape with endless choices…
…add to that the ways our body has operated for years (prior to a glut of food availability) or the psychological attachments we feel towards foods and you’ve now got more than just willpower in the mix!
That’s why I help you tackle all of these areas so that when we do need to rely on willpower it’s easier to do!

A client let me know they are no longer in need of my services yesterday…
…I was thrilled 🙌
My purpose is to create a world full of healthy, self-confident and contented people who become comfortable in their own skin…
…this client felt great about themselves and their health, and felt they now had the skills for long term weight management and success. To me that’s a huge win and they can now spend (or save) their dollars elsewhere 👍
Here is an extract from the feedback this client was happy to pass on…

Ever heard the saying “adapt or die”?
Our ancestors worked this one out 10,000 years ago when their bodies adapted to handle food scarcity. It added years to their lives!
Our modern day selves are failing to catch up with our ancestors adaptive abilities, mostly because it is our conscious mind that is required to make the changes. It’s projected that our children’s generation will be the first where life expectancy will reduce…
…but change is possible…
…it requires more than focusing on food intake and exercise…and that’s where I can help!

Society will have you believe that weight loss is important for aesthetics…
…science, and myself, would rather you look at weight loss as an extension of life, literally!
A report from the British government in 2008 estimated that 13 years of life is likely lost by obese men and 8 years is lost by obese women 😕
Add in disease, injury, joint replacements and challenges with mental wellness, that can also impact on the years you are alive, and you lose a few more quality years…
Making positive changes that serve you in the long term gives you better quality of life and more time for memories with loved ones.
I can help you make this change!

I’ve taken a few liberties here because a lot of broccoli is going to have less effect on our body than a lot of chocolate or chips…but the message should still be clear…too much of anything is going to have its issues.
While it’s less likely we could get to this point eating broccoli, too much of it could mean overconsumption of micronutrients that can cause nausea, lethargy, diarrhoea, headaches etc. Not to mention a likely lack of enjoyment from your diet.
A healthy relationship with food should include good portion control! After all, the healthy food pyramid allows for that.
Eating chips daily has the potential for weight gain; there is a lot of calories in a product made in large quantities of oil, and the way they’re produced can be a huge risk to vital organs when excess fat builds up around them. But eating chips 3 times per week might still be okay, might still allow you to lose or maintain weight, and still allows you some diet enjoyment.
So stop thinking of foods as good and bad, and instead start focusing on healthy and unhealthy amounts!

Research shows that over 80% of people who diet regain the weight they lose (and sometimes more) within 3 years of being on a diet.
A number of factors play a part in this, from our physiology to our psychology to social factors. But at the core of the regaining of weight is as lack of sustainability relating to all of these things.
Unless you spend time understanding these factors it’s very unlikely long-term progress will be made. Weight Management Coaching looks at your food and exercise but never neglects the behavioural factors that are needed for success!

We live in a very different world to our Paleolithic ancestors…I’m sure their diet helped them live a full and active 30 years…but we live a lot longer now…so an ancestor who probably didn’t experience our modern day diseases because they didn’t live long enough, may not be the blueprint for a healthy modern day life…
The healthiest approach is learning how to survive and prosper in our new food environment!

Hands up if you know the story of the tortoise and the hare?
The hare is so confident of winning the race…he takes off at a huge pace…doesn’t find the pace sustainable…takes a break…loses ground…and ultimately loses the race to the tortoise…
Modern dieting is the hare! Confidently selling you lifelong results…asking for a fast start with massive reductions in calories…requiring you to take a break cause the diet isn’t sustainable…and ultimately finding yourself losing the battle for better health!
At the Long-Term Weigh Management Collective we pride ourself on being the tortoise! Slow, steady, safe and sustainable…helping you to get the win!
Want to find out more about how that’s possible…give me a shout!

Most diets want you to cut out certain foods or food groups for any number of reasons, but rarely are any of them assessed for your individual needs.
Let’s take bread…it’s factually correct to say that wholegrain breads are more nutritious than the more processed white breads due to micronutrients…it’s also correct to say that a standard piece of either is roughly the same in calories. Yet white bread is regularly vilified by diets that mainly function on calorie deficits….
What if you like white bread and loathe brown bread? But you had to eat brown bread because of ‘the diet’…would you find it sustainable?
In weight management, rarely are our immediate problems how nutritious the food is…it’s how much we’re eating…we can fix nutritious later if required.
What I do is help you make safe, sustainable change that’s similar to how you currently eat; and that is far better at kickstarting weight loss and good habits. Believe me, you’ll enjoy it far more than modern dieting!
