📣 LOST PROPERTY – REUNITING ITEMS WITH THEIR PEOPLE! 👕🧥🥤

Our lost property collection has been having a bit of a growth spurt! 😄

We currently have a large number of drink bottles, lunch boxes, uniform items and other bits and pieces patiently waiting to find their way home.

We’ve had a big tidy-up and everything is now hung up, sorted and easy to look through. Check out the photos below – you may spot something that looks very familiar! 👀

Please encourage your child to have a look, or feel free to pop in and check the rack yourself.

There are definitely a few items that must be missed somewhere… especially given the number of lonely drink bottles! 😂

Thanks everyone!

🌼💛 Daffodil Day at Cheviot Area School 💛🌼

What a lovely way to spend Daffodil Day today!

Our students and staff headed out together for a walk to the Domain and around our Cheviot community, proudly wearing yellow and showing our support for the Cancer Society.

It was wonderful to see our whole school out and about together, enjoying the sunshine, connecting with our community and supporting a cause that means so much to so many people.

Days like today are a great reminder of the strength of our small community and the importance of looking out for one another.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined in and helped make it such a positive day. 🌼💛

We are delighted to share some very encouraging attendance results from Term 2:

In Term 2 2025, 48% of our students attended school regularly – meaning they were present for more than 90% of the term. In Term 2 2026, this increased to 65% – a fantastic rise of 17%. By comparison, the increase across New Zealand over the same period was approximately 6 %.

Other highlights include:

⭐ 118 students attended school regularly (more than 90% of the time)
⭐ Our overall attendance rate reached 90%
⭐ 97% of students arrived on time to school regularly
⭐ Chronic absence reduced from 6% to 5%

We are very grateful to our students and whānau for helping us make such strong progress. Every day at school matters, and consistent attendance supports learning, friendships, wellbeing and a strong sense of belonging.

There is still work to do. Our attendance is lowest on Fridays, at 89%, compared with 92% on Tuesdays. Term-time holidays and other avoidable absences also continue to affect attendance. We understand that genuine illness happens, but we encourage families to make every school day count whenever their child is well enough to attend.

Thank you for working alongside us – together, we are making a real difference!
