He Pounamu Early Nurture believes wholeheartedly that whānau is at the heart of how tamariki learn best. By putting whānau at the heart of our bicultural curriculum we will provide an inclusive environment respectful of the knowledge that comes through pathways within te ao Maori, that allows the transfer of knowledge through passion and experience within heart led and generous relationships.
We will teach within an ethos of generosity and aroha for tamariki, whānau, kaiako and the wider community, bringing to life whanaungatanga, manaakitanga, kaitiakitanga, kotahitanga and wairuatanga in every aspect of our curriculum.
Respect and acknowledgement will be given to the kete of knowledge our tamariki bring with them and by protecting the sacred urge to play, in partnership with our tamariki, our collective kete of knowledge will be deepened and broadened. Kaiako and whānau will view play through the lens of sustainability, ecological, social justice, creativity and imagination will be able to communicate valued learning and the importance of global citizenship.
We believe tamariki learn best within a mixed age group, which reflects a home, where opportunities for rangatiratanga, whanaungatanga and tuakana/teina relationships flourish.
