Children can learn anywhere—and sometimes the best classroom is an adventure! 🦁🐒🌿

Our recent zoo trip gave our tamariki so many opportunities to observe, ask questions, learn new words and experience the wonder of animals up close.

Excursions also help children build confidence in new environments, practise social skills, develop independence and enjoy active learning alongside their friends, parents and caregivers.

Although our Leamington Playcentre building is currently closed, our Wednesday and Thursday sessions are continuing through outings and visits to other Playcentres.

Playcentre is so much more than four walls. 💜

It’s the friendships formed over shared experiences. It’s parents and caregivers supporting one another. It’s tamariki exploring, learning and laughing together—and having a trusted adult right beside them.

Although our Leamington Playcentre building remains closed following the flood, our community is still strong. We’re continuing our regular sessions off-site, finding new places to play and making special memories along the way.

At Playcentre, we follow tamariki’s interests and give them the time, space and encouragement to explore, discover and learn through play.

Different places, same Leamington Playcentre community! 💜

While our centre building remains closed following the flood, our Wednesday and Thursday sessions are still going strong—we’re simply taking our play and learning on the road!

🦁 Last week, we enjoyed an exciting trip to the zoo and a visit to Cambridge Playcentre.

🛝 This week, we explored Leamington Domain Park and returned to Cambridge Playcentre.

🌈 Next week, we’re looking forward to visiting the lovely Ōhaupō Playcentre and Cambridge Playcentre!

We’re incredibly grateful to the centres and community spaces welcoming us while we’re unable to use our own building. These adventures are giving our tamariki new places to explore while helping our Playcentre families stay connected.

This week the cold weather hit us hard and we have had a bit of flooding in our centre. Which means we have been visiting our neighbouring Playcentre whānau.
Big thanks to Cambridge Playcentre & Ohaupo Playcentre for welcoming us at such short notice this week. Your support and kindness mean so much to us.

We have more exciting trips and visits planned so we won't be slowing down! We have some exciting adventures to some of the amazing spaces and places we have here in the Waikato. We'll also be spending more time with our friends at Cambridge and Ōhaupō Playcentres.

We want to send a massive THANK YOU to the incredible team at for generously allowing Leamington Playcentre to borrow some of their amazing lighting for our Matariki evening. 🌟 ACLX provides professional lighting and event production services, and their lights certainly helped make our evening feel extra special!

The tamariki had an absolute blast dancing under the lights 💃🕺✨ There were plenty of smiles, lots of dancing and some very impressive moves on the dance floor! 😂

Your generosity helped us create such a fun and memorable experience for our Playcentre whānau, and we are so grateful for your support. 💜
