On Wednesday night, our inaugural Performing Arts Senior Creative Showcase brought together Dance, Drama and Music for the first time, celebrating original work created entirely by our students.
This unique showcase provided students with the opportunity to present their own choreography, devised performances and compositions, demonstrating not only their creativity and technical skills, but also their understanding of how an idea can be developed and realised on stage.
When creating their own work, students are responsible for the decision-making process, taking risks and ultimately showing vulnerability as they tackle topics that are personal to them.
Thank you to everyone involved in making this inaugural event a success and we are looking forward to bringing more opportunities for our students to showcase these skills in the future.
Special thanks to Year 11 student Kobe Jenkins for his excellent photography, capturing the creativity and energy of the evening.

Our annual student-led Battle of Waipa sports exchange saw Year 9 and 10 students from St. Peter's, Cambridge High School and Te Awamutu College go head-to-head in a fantastic day of competition.
Students competed across basketball, chess, football, hockey, netball, rugby 7s, lacrosse, table tennis and tennis, all vying to be crowned the top school in Waipā.
The contest was tight, with St. Peter's winning three sporting codes, drawing three with Cambridge High School, and narrowly losing three. Those results were enough to secure the overall title and bring the Battle of Waipa trophy back to St. Peter's.
A huge thank you to our Sport Ambassadors, Sian, Rorri, Thomas and Jack, along with our sporting captains who coached, managed, officiated and supported teams throughout the day. Their leadership and commitment helped make the event such a success.
Congratulations to all students who represented their schools with pride, determination and outstanding sportsmanship.

Christmas came early for our boarders with the annual Boarding Mid-Winter Christmas celebration last night.
With two sittings to accommodate all boarders and staff, the dining hall was filled with festive spirit as everyone enjoyed a traditional Christmas feast featuring favourites such as glazed ham and pavlova.
The evening was also an opportunity to recognise and celebrate students who have made a positive impression throughout the first half of the year, with each boarding house presenting certificates to deserving recipients.
A wonderful night of great food, community and celebration as we mark the halfway point of the year together.

What an inspiring morning at our Year 7 Speech Finals, where 10 outstanding students shared their ideas with their peers.
The range of topics was impressive, covering everything from stereotypes, gender equality and empathy over apathy, to how positivity can change your life, why everyone should play sport, and even what would happen if video games replaced school. Students also explored the power of collective action, speaking up for children, moving to Madrid, and how even the smallest voices can create meaningful change.
The confidence, maturity and passion shown by all speakers was exceptional, making for a highly engaging and thought-provoking event.
Congratulations to our prize winners:
Third Place – Dilan Turner, Speaking Up for Our Children
Second Place – Sherry Ma, How Positivity Can Change Your Life
First Place – Rowan Eckoldt-Stevenson, How Action Can't Be Accomplished Alone
Special congratulations also to our Top Speakers:
Top Girl – Rowan Eckoldt-Stevenson
Top Boy – George Campbell, If Video Games Replaced School
Rowan and George will go through to the Waikato Full Primary Association event next term, where they will represent St. Peter's.
Well done to all finalists for the courage and enthusiasm you brought, we look forward to seeing where your voices take you next.

What an incredible achievement for our dancers at the National Dance Challenge in Auckland over the weekend. Competing against 39 schools from across the country, Mosaic delivered outstanding performances, placing in the Top 10 for both of their sequences and earning Platinum Awards for each.
A special congratulations goes to students Lucy Ambler, Kenzie Miers and Charlotte Swap, whose self-choreographed lyrical piece Resonance achieved an exceptional 3rd place overall. To see student-created work recognised on the national stage is a remarkable accomplishment and a testament to their creativity, dedication and talent.
We are incredibly proud of all our dancers for representing St. Peter's with such passion.

Each Monday morning our school community comes together for a full school assembly, where Mr Speedy sets the tone for the week by introducing a theme that encourages students to reflect on and embrace.
This week's theme is Enthusiastic. Head Boarding Prefect Darcie Granwal shared what enthusiasm means to her and presented the weekly pennant to the student who embodies the theme in action. Congratulations to Gloryah Qaranivalu for demonstrating enthusiasm through her attitude, effort and engagement within our school community.

History, culture, sport, royalty and remarkable changemakers all came to life this week at Night at Our Museum.
This live St. Peter’s museum showcased the inspiring individuals our Year 10 English students have researched and embodied through their monologue studies.
Drawing on a range of non-fiction texts, students explored real-life stories and perspectives before selecting a person who resonated with them. Through research, writing and performance, they adopted their chosen persona and crafted a monologue that captured that individual's voice, experiences and impact.
A highlight was seeing selected students perform their monologues live in character, transforming the museum into an engaging and interactive experience for family, friends and staff.

Last night our Year 13 Food Technology students hosted a special Pasta Night, inviting a guest to join them in creating pasta from scratch before enjoying a family-style Italian feast.
The evening was a wonderful showcase of the skills developed through Food Technology, highlighting everything from food preparation and presentation to planning, teamwork and hosting.
Most importantly, it demonstrated how food brings people together. Students develop practical skills they can carry with them long after they leave school, while also fostering creativity, confidence and connection.
