Thanks again Porter Group for bringing the Gallagher Chiefs to Kauri Class. We are grateful to be the lucky recipients of this prize and loved meeting the players and receiving some sports equipment for the school.

Like the mighty tree, they stand tall and proud. The Kauri Class cheers for the Chiefs out loud. With Hautapu heart and Waikato pride, we'd love to have you by our side. Go the Chiefs!

This was the poem written by Joel and his mum Julianne, that won Kauri Class a visit from The Gallagher Chiefs rugby team, organised by Porter Group. We were privileged and very excited to host Seuseu Naitoa Ah Kuoi, Ollie Norris, Benet Kumeroa and Josh Jacomb.

The children enjoyed chatting to their rugby idols, hearing about their sport journey, asking the players some interesting questions and getting their signatures. Porter Group bought in some afternoon tea for the children, gave them each a beanie and donated some sports equipment to our school.

We were so lucky to be the recipients of the class visit and thank all those that nominated us, especially Joel and his family.

We look forward to watching the Chiefs in the final on Saturday and hope they feel our Waikato pride down in Wellington.
GO CHIEFS!!

Last Friday, Hautapu School had the privilege of welcoming a special visitor, The Honourable Louise Upston, MP for National, accompanied by Linda Meerkerk, MP Support Advisor.

Our guests were warmly welcomed by two of our House Leaders, alongside Mrs Bennett and Mr K. As part of the visit, Kaden proudly shared his pepeha before leading into a tour of our school.

During her time at Hautapu, Louise was keen to learn more about our learning programmes, classroom environments, and the opportunities and challenges currently facing schools within the education sector.

It was a valuable opportunity to showcase the wonderful learning taking place at Hautapu School.

On Thursday last week I was fortunate to have the opportunity to take some of our students to Ngā Hau e Whā marae for the first Te Ohu Kaiārahi o te Kapua Iti session. During this day, our students were involved in a range of Te Ao Māori activities along with other Cambridge kura. We learnt waiata, pronunciation, weaving, and played some games. It was wonderful to see this kaupapa continue and we are looking forward to the next time we are able to attend this event.
