We are a hapū based early childhood education centre based on the beautiful grounds of Te Rau Aroha Marae in Bluff, catering for tamariki aged 6 months to 6 years. Our kaupapa is grounded in te ao Māori, and we provide a nurturing, culturally rich learning

Over the past week our tamariki have been learning about ANZAC Day through hands on experiences. Our tuakana made poppy wreaths and visited ANZAC Memorial Grove where they laid their small tokens of acknowledgment. They also made their own medals and baked ANZAC biscuits and have been listening to the Last Post as part of this learning. All tamariki including our pēpi and pangore journeyed to the cenotaph to pay their respects. We finished with a visit to the RSA today and would like to thank Robbo for generously sharing his knowledge of the memorabilia which helped bring learning to life.

🐳💙 SEA WEEK 💙🐟
Last Tuesday we were lucky to have Nikki from Shark Experience Bluff visit us and teach the tamariki all about mangō 🦈- the many incredible species that call Te Ara a Kiwa home 🌊, their different names and even special sign language for "shark" which the tamariki have been practicing ever since ✋🏽

On Thursday the tamariki headed out on a hīkoi to the Shark store and saw shark cage-diving footage and learnt about how big these creatures can be! A huge kā mihi to Nikki for sharing her valuable time and mātauraka and for the beautiful pukapuka she gave as a koha 🙏🏽

On the way back to Te Rourou the tamariki stopped in at Stella's to say kia ora and were treated to afternoon kai and fluffies by Tracey and her team 🍟☕️

These wahine really made our tamariki's day. Kā mihi nui ki ēnei wahine atawhai. Your kindness and generosity is hugely appreciated 🌟

Sea week has been a time of learning, excitement and community connection for our tamariki 🌊🩵
