3 things Deadlifts can teach us about life πŸ‘‡

1️⃣ Brace before you lift.

Before you take on something heavy, create stability first. Breathe. Ground yourself. Get your feet underneath you.

Being strong isn’t only about what you can carry. It’s also about how you prepare yourself to carry it.

2️⃣ Keep what matters close.

The further the bar drifts away from you, the harder the lift becomes. Life feels a bit like that too. When I drift too far from my values, my people, my body, or the things that restore me, everything feels heavier than it needs to.

3️⃣ You’re allowed to put heavy things down.

The aim was never to walk around holding the bar forever. You lift it. You learn what you’re capable of. And then you put it back down.

Not everything needs to be carried indefinitely to prove you’re strong.

Sometimes strength is lifting the heavy thing. Sometimes it’s knowing when the rep is done.

Oh, and last thing... The effort of an ugly rep still counts for progress! πŸ€™πŸ˜œ

Happy Sunday, Beautiful People. I hope my reflections help to uplift you somehow πŸ€—

Beautiful Remix friends!

How are you? πŸ˜€

I had a really cool experience yesterday that I'd love to share with you....

I got to jump on a plane to Christchurch to spend the arvo with ANZCO Foods Health & Safety Advisors, talking about the psychology of influence.

We explored why people push back, how language can reduce perceived threat, and how to build shared ownership for health and safety.

Anyway, psychology geek-speak aside, I wanted to share this with you because there was a time when mahi like this existed only as a dream in my mind. But now, it's a reality.

I know there'll be someone reading this who's dreaming about something they really want to do too.

But feeling full of doubt about how to make it happen.

Or wondering whether they're good enough to take the leap.

PLEASE TAKE THE LEAP & DO IT!

It might be pretty hard sometimes. There'll be heaps of learning, doubting, starting again and doing a mountain of invisible work (and in my case, tears sometimes too! πŸ™ˆ)

But it'll be so worth it.

And you CAN do it.

Someone out there needs exactly what only you can offer.

Dream big. Work hard. Make it happen.

To me, it's about being an example of what women can still build in their forties and beyond.

Strength doesn't belong to your twenties.

Athleticism doesn't have an expiry date.

Single parenthood doesn't mean your physical ambitions have to disappear.

Being busy building a business doesn't mean you're relegated to merely trying to 'stay healthy.'

You can still have audacious physical goals.

You can still surprise yourself with what your body’s capable of.

Beautiful lady, if you're reading this wondering if you're too old, too busy, too stretched, or whether that chapter of your life has simply passed:

It hasn't.

You get to decide what strength looks like now.

You get to set goals that scare you a little.

You get to train for something that has absolutely nothing to do with being smaller and everything to do with discovering how powerful you can become.

There is still so much more in you.

Here's to us finding out just what we're capable of πŸ’ͺπŸ”₯

I get to turn 43 today! πŸ₯³

I always like to use birthdays as a chance to pause and reflect on what life's been teaching me this year.

Here's 3 things I'm learning...

✨ You can survive far more than you think you can. The question isn't whether life will throw hard things at you. It will. The real question is whether you'll learn to trust yourself to meet them when they arrive.

✨ Connection is everything. Some people will walk beside you for a lifetime. Others are there for just a chapter. Both matter. Every person we meet leaves us with something. A lesson, a memory, a perspective, or a reminder of who we want to be.

✨ Life feels richer when I stop waiting for the big milestones and start noticing the small moments. A giggle with my son. Coffee in the sunshine. A great conversation. Finishing a hard workout. A quiet sense of peace. Those little glimmers add up to a beautiful life.

I definitely don't feel like I've figured life out! I don't think I ever will.

But I do feel like I'm becoming softer in the right places, and stronger in the ones that matter.

Perhaps that's what growing older is really about.

Not becoming a different person.

Becoming more at home with the one you've always been πŸ€—

Thanks for being here on the journey, my friends.

Our connection really matters to me πŸ™πŸ»

What if one of the biggest barriers to belonging is believing you don't?

This year's Mental Health Awareness Week theme is "belonging matters."

And I can't help but think about how often I hear these words in coaching sessions:

"I feel like everyone else has it together except me."

"I don't know if I belong in this room."

"I'm worried people will realise I'm not good enough."

That's the thing about Impostor Syndrome.

It doesn't just impact confidence.

It quietly chips away at our sense of belonging.

When we believe we have to prove our worth, hide our struggles, or earn our place, it's incredibly hard to feel like we truly belong.

That's why I love helping organisations have these conversations.

Because when people realise they're not the only one feeling like an impostor who doesn't belong, things shift.

Masks come off.

Self-doubt loses some of its power.

People feel a new sense of belonging from the realisation that others feel like they do.

If you're looking for a Mental Health Awareness Week speaker this October, I'd love to help your people better understand Impostor Syndrome, quiet the Inner Critic, and create workplaces where people feel safe to contribute, connect and belong.

My sessions can be tailored for leaders, teams, or whole organisations.

Get in touch if I can help!
