This week we celebrated our incredible educators – the heart of Little Acorns Academy. 💚

At our special playgroup, we dedicated the day to them. Our educators are not only passionate about what they do, but they also go above and beyond every single day. Their love, patience, and commitment shape the journeys of the tamariki in our care, and for that we are truly grateful. 🌿✨

We are more than a teaching team – we are a connected community, built on respect, care, and appreciation of each other ❣️

It's been ages since I have posted here. But this is my goal for the last part of the year, to get back into using this page....so here we go!

Today we walked through the forest at the local lagoon! Plans have been made to visit here more often!

It's nearly school holidays!!!

I have 1 space available for a child 5 or over during the first week of the holidays and 2 spaces for the second week!

I have a child moving off to kindy 😭😭😭

Space available is Monday/Wednesday/Friday, hours available are 8am - 4pm.

20 Hours ECE available. WINZ subsidies also available.

Your child will get to experience daily outings to parks, playgrounds, the beach etc. We attend weekly playgroups, messy play, we like to bake/cook, do craft and gardening.

Your child will have the benefit of a loving, nurturing environment, with a small daily group, while getting to socialize with other educators and their children at our outings.

Wow.... it has been a while since I posted here! We have been so busy, adventures to playgrounds and parks! Farewells to friends heading off to school, father's day activities, playschool, kindy gym...the list goes on!

We are stuck at home this week, so today we did some baking!
The children all helped make Rocky Road slice. They all helped break the biscuits, put the marshmallows in, stir and smooth. Some really important life skills!
The turn taking from a group of nearly, or just 2 year olds was amazing!

Winter reminder...puffer jackets and car seats are not a good combo!

📣Road Safety Week 2023 - Be a Road Safety Hero!
Here are our top tips for keeping kids safe in car seats this winter:
🚗Remove puffy coats and vests before getting in the car - in a crash they can compress leaving your child’s car seat harness too loose to effectively do the job.
🚗Young babies overheat very easily so a light natural fiber blanket is usually all that is needed on a cold day in the car before it warms up.
🚗Capsule covers or blanket over the top of the capsule are not safe for using in the car as these restrict the airflow to baby making it easy for them to overheat quickly.

I'm a big believer in rear facing for as long as possible.
Obviously I take parent input for their children's needs on board, but rear facing is so much better!!
My own child, who is 2 years and 4 months is still rear facing, we will hang out as long as possible before turning her. (She is tiny for her age, so probably 4 or 5)

But this is not always the best for parents, or children.
My first born was forward facing at 6 months, as much as I hated this, pediatricians/specialist recommended this for both my child and my own safety when driving.
Please, if there is no medical reason (like my oldest child's situations) keep your children rear facing. Many seats are able to do this for a lot longer than you would expect!
