Today, our tamariki have been busy extending their learning about space, and some brought in their own plastic bottles to recycle and turn into rockets. As they have already made a few space-themed creations, this was a lovely way to keep building on their ideas. They were very proud of their mahi and loved sharing their rockets with each other. He tino pai tēnei hei whakaatu i te auahatanga, te ako, me te manaaki i tō tātou ao.

Today, the tamariki explored the colours of the sun and moon through mixing paint colours.

It was lovely to hear parents sharing memories of paper mâché from their own childhoods, and how special it is to see these traditional art experiences being enjoyed again today.

Many of us teachers also found ourselves reminiscing about making paper mâché at school, and it has been a joy to bring this old favourite back to life for our children.

We are especially grateful for the parents who have shared how much they value seeing their children involved in this kind of creative learning.

What's been happening this week so far? Space is still a favourite, and we got this great space puzzle with one piece missing, but it was still a hit and fabulous seeing everyone working together.

These are some photos of other things that the tamariki were doing this week. 💖😊

We have been having lots of fun in space this week! After a little rocket mishap, the team came together, worked collaboratively, and came up with a new plan. 💖☺️👩🏼‍🚀
We talked with the tamariki about how the rocket ship blew up again and came through the window! The tamariki loved the fire coming out and the colours on the windows.

The tamariki have been matching the planets and painting their own. They have also been reading books together and teaching each other about the planets. 🚀📚

We were lucky to have Kerry come and spend a day with us, helping the tamariki begin some papier-mâché balloons. It has been a great learning opportunity as they explore the process of papier-mâché together. 🎈

Kia ora and good evening. On Monday morning, Josie and I were treated to a wonderful surprise when we arrived at kindergarten.
Natasha and her partner had come in over the weekend to create a fantastic space display for the children to enjoy. 🌟👌❤️

The tamariki had such a fun time becoming astronauts, exploring the different planets, and using the matching cards to pair the pictures with the correct planets on the poster and books. It was lovely to see how much joy and excitement it brought to everyone. 👩🏼‍🚀🚀

A big thank you to Natasha and her partner for setting up such a special display, and to Alfie and his family for kindly bringing in the space rocket and other space resources after using them at home. We really appreciate your generosity and support. 💖

He aha te mea nui o te ao? He tangata, he tangata, he tangata.

Kia ora whānau and community,

Our tamariki have shown a growing interest in space, so we’ve created a special space area in our kindergarten to support their curiosity and learning.

We would love to grow this area even further, so if you have any spare space-themed toys, books, puzzles, or activities at home that you no longer need, we would be so grateful for your support.
Thank you for helping us build an inspiring space for our tamariki to explore now and into the future. 👨‍🚀🚀🚀

Our tamariki loved bug hunting! On Monday when our new kaiako, Natasha, brought out a fabulous insect activity. The children searched for different bug pictures, then brought them to Natasha to match on the poster and tick off each one they found. It was a wonderful way to follow their interests and encourage noticing, recognising, and responding to the world around them.
