Have you had a chance to check out and vote for our fabulous Christmas Tree for the Xmas Tree Extravaganza?! Our theme this year was... well "this is me" and you may spot some familiar wee elves! This is keeping up with our tradition of decorating a Christmas tree in our community for well over 27 years! And a way of making connections and supporting our community which grows our children's wider understanding of who they are and their place in the world.

Credit to Andrea Greer who offers trauma responsive and neuro-affirming training, supervision, EMDR and play therapy, from
Nurturing relationships. Your tamariki might still be processing all their big emotions from all the damage from strong winds. Allow them space to process emotions, questions and thoughts they have. Give them space to express any worries they might have. We haven't navigated anything like this before so it has been pretty intense for all of us including our kids. Be patient and kind with yourself and with your children as you process all the different emotions together.
Here are some helpful phrases to use with compassion and kindness. Take care.

A huge thank you to our Calteaux family for donating new sitting logs to our Wilderness Warrior programme. It was a fantastic surprise for our tamariki and kaiako to see amazing new seats to greet us when we rounded the corner. We so appreciate our families valuing Forest Kindergarten as much as we do. This programme involves a small group of tamariki out to explore and play in a local conservation area, offering our children lots of opportunities to build physical, listening, leadership, co-operation and collaboration skills. All te ao Māori values that we cherish and promote at Rosebank Kindergarten.

If your tamariki's lunch boxes are full today, that is because we were very spoilt by Safia's family who prepared and shared traditional food of rice, beef curry & homegrown salad and delicious rice pudding washed down with juice and topped off with juice! This was in celebration of the Eid al-Fitr which comes at the end of Ramadan, thank so much for sharing this special occasion with us!

Kia ora all. Thank you to the families for putting your name down on our end of year clean up list. We still have quite a few jobs and would really appreciate your help in getting these complete by Wednesday. If we have any handy dandy fixers out there...our truck needs some major repairs!

What a fun trikeathon we had on Saturday. Thanks so much to everyone who turned up, dressed for the occasion, rode their bikes hard or ran those laps, or cheered the tamariki on. We love the opportunity to get together as a Kindergarten community, to come together and celebrate how amazing and unique your children are. Te Rā o Ngā Tamariki/ Children’s Day was also this weekend, a special day that honours the joy, curiosity, and potential of our tamariki. What a way to cherish the children at Rosebank Kindergarten, to spend quality time, to recognise and celebrate their achievements, and to create lasting memories.

A huge and warmest thank you to the small team of hard working parents who turned up on Friday nights working bee and throughout the week. Our Kindergarten outside learning environment looks fantastic. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank the boys from Crescent Rugby Team from Kaitangata who volunteered their time to help out. Our tamariki noticed the changes straight away and are loving the new sand!

❤️🩷❤️🩷 Children at the Heart ❤️🩷❤️🩷 What would early childhood education look like if our Government made all their decisions based on this idea???

Today’s day of action was a chance to talk about what quality means in early childhood education and at Rosebank Kindergarten, to highlight how this quality happens and to share with our whānau concerns we have about current thinking in the Government. Qualified teachers, good funding, support for diverse learners, pay parity, and regulations that keep everyone safe are all some of the things that help quality happen and that keep children at the heart. Kindergarten is a special place that has always promoted and fought for these things and will continue to do so.

We thank all our whānau who chatted with us today and contributed their thoughts. We value your time and support.
