There are NZOIA-qualified instructors across the country who completed our NZQA Outdoor Instructor Qualifications. Diploma students in West Auckland are opening their eyes to the opportunities and joys of a career in the outdoors. There are hundreds of young people out on Duke of Edinburgh tramps, schools on outdoor education programmes, and smaller, select groups on Adventure Development and Trades Academy programmes.There's a ropes course in Henderson Valley, tucked into the bush, that belongs to a trust we helped create.

And there are adults getting outside for the first time, or finding their way back to an outdoors they thought they'd left behind.

None of that happened by accident. The road has been far from smooth — but the compass has always been the same: where's the need, does it align with our purpose, let's give it a go. Growing people through leading and learning in the outdoors. When you stay committed to purpose, you find a way through.

AdventureWorks turns fifteen this year. And somewhere between the High Ropes Course, Project K youth development programmes, the decision to become a NZQA registered private training establishment, a two year Diploma, the NZOIA accreditation, and the gap left by Te Mahi Ako's withdrawal from outdoor recreation qualifications, the updated suite of outdoor recreation qualifications that we're providing, the new micro-credentials, and the new short video-based learning courses — we realised we'd never properly told the story of how we got here.

So we did. It's honest, it's specific, and it covers ground we've never put into writing before.
