Lessons from loss: Overcoming avoidance in business
I often say we don’t live on a planet with 8 billion other people, we live on a planet with 8 billion other worlds!
Why? Because each person’s mind creates their own reality. Our minds interpret the world around us, and from these interpretations, our thoughts and behaviours shape our lives. In the process, we unknowingly confirm and strengthen what we already believe.

Mastering Lasting Change: Understanding and Shaping the Systems Behind Our Behaviours
Despite best intentions, most individuals fail to make substantial, long-term changes—with only 20-30% succeeding in achieving their personal goals—while the rest struggle and often give up.

I think about my self-worth like a bank account: there are behaviors that can top it up and others that can deplete it.
When someone makes me feel despair, it serves two purposes: it reveals my emotional balance and prompts me to investigate the source of that despair and how to resolve it.
Bennie’s emotional bank account was seriously in the red when he began Genius You. The good news is that it’s never too late to get it sorted.

Doubt derails success: It's the emotional barrier few overcome
Doubt is an emotion that often traps us, causing fear, imposter syndrome, and sometimes failure without us ever realising it's a crucial part of the journey to self-belief.
As a personal transformation strategist and founder of Genius You, I have observed that emotions are powerful forces that can either propel us forward or leave us feeling stuck. However, many do not realise that doubt is simply part of the process.
Emotions like doubt, fear, and discomfort are often seen as signals that something is wrong. There is a common misconception that experiencing doubt means one is not good enough, but it is actually a natural part of learning and growth.
The real issue is that these feelings are often interpreted as a lack of ability rather than recognising them as signs of progress.

Embracing Emotions: A Strength, Not a Weakness
The common and outdated stereotype that labels women as 'too emotional' still prevails in New Zealand's business circles.
I've observed that this perception not only persists but is also damaging.
It is easy to advocate for change, yet real transformation requires society to view emotion not as a weakness but as a valuable asset.

I've noticed that many Kiwis, about 30 per cent, have experienced the painful reality of family estrangement. This often happens between parents and children or siblings, and it can last for decades or sometimes never be resolved. However, it is a problem that can be addressed if at least one person is willing to confront their own emotions.
I believe that one person's behaviour can significantly impact the entire family, for better or worse. By changing how we respond to situations, we can influence positive changes in others.

The best compliment of my life came two years ago from my Mum. She said, "Simone, I have never seen anyone develop at the pace you can." It shouldn’t have felt like a compliment because personal development is what I do, but her recognition meant the world to me.
There was a time when I felt like I couldn’t develop and went around in many circles while she stood on the sidelines watching. Now, I've created a development program that works, and her acknowledgement was the cherry on top.

Navigating the Challenges of Kiwi Kids' Behaviour.
The recent report from the Education Review Office, which starkly highlights New Zealand's challenging school behaviours, should serve as a wake-up call. We have essentially handed over the car keys to our children without equipping them with the necessary driving skills, and the consequences are becoming increasingly evident.
