Interior Design Today Tuesday: Robertson Bathware 🛁

We had an excellent visit to the Robertson Bathware showroom this week.

Kirsten and Aaron were very generous with their time and knowledge regarding all things tap and bathroomware.

There is so much to see in their beautiful showroom and there was plenty of lively discussion regarding what we'd all like to see and experience in our bathrooms these days!

Thanks very much for hosting us.

Interior Design Today Thursday: Seneca and Warwick 🛋️

We spent an inspiring morning exploring the world of textiles with two New Zealand-owned businesses.

The team at Seneca shared their expertise on the extensive range of European wallpaper and textile brands they import. Their collection features beautiful detailing, and their selection of ready-made cushions and bedlinen is very good. It was a pleasure to meet their knowledgeable team and the new owner.

We also visited Warwick, a family business established in 1985. They provided valuable insights into assessing the right textiles for specific purposes. Given the variety of weaves and compositions available, it was an excellent refresher on how to make the best selections for our projects.

Thank you to Paul and Libby for sharing their expertise and hosting us!

Interior Design Today Tuesday: Residium

We were at Residum last week to discuss bathroom design - layouts, budgets, some practical considerations and timelines.

We finished with a hands-on exercise measuring out two bathroom floorplans 'in real life' - a great way to understand how a room might feel once built!

Thanks to Residium for hosting us 😊

Interior Design Today Tuesday: Kouzina Appliances, Morgan Cronin, and Bora ⭐

We had a great visit to the Kouzina Appliances showroom where we heard from the Bora team who have travelled from Italy and Australia, to showcase their kitchen appliances - in particular, their downdraft technology.

We then heard from multi-award winning kitchen designer Morgan Cronin of Cronin Kitchens who talked us through his design process. Morgan takes a meticulous and precise approach to kitchen design and along with his many years as a cabinet maker and designer, we see why he is in demand and wins so many awards!

Both Bora and Morgan have a passion for creating living spaces within the kitchen, so that family and friends can gather together to share food and enjoy each other’s company.

Thanks very much to Kouzina Appliances, Bora and Morgan Cronin for such an interesting and informative morning.

IDT Tour to Queenstown: Day 2

Day two featured three distinct gardens that showcased different design aspects, ranging from wild and local styles to structured and formal layouts. Highlights include a beautiful apple grove and a garden characterised by elegant curves and an impressive vegetable garden. A local artist showed us her work inspired by the planting in her garden.

In Wanaka, the location truly highlighted the area's jewel-like qualities. We explored local shops that embrace design and art. We saw how the materiality of the buildings in this region complements the landscape, embracing the desire to be grounded and enveloped.

The historic Cardrona Pub was the perfect end to the day.

Interior Design Today Tuesday: Visit to the Häfele and E-Stone showroom

We had a wonderful morning seeing the Häfele showroom and hearing about the range of products they supply - so many different storage options to better storage options and everyday life easier!

This was followed by our visit to E-Stone - benchtop suppliers and fabricators. We heard about the engineered stone and porcelain ranges that E-Stone bring in to NZ, as well as their fabricating service of many engineered stone, porcelain and natural stone ranges. We finished with a tour of their factory, where they showed us the entire benchtop fabrication process, from slab to pieces ready to install in a new kitchen!

Thanks to Häfele and E-Stone.

🎥 The Interior Design Today Thursday class is off to the Resene Architecture & Design Film Festival tomorrow.

Many great films, fresh ideas, and creative inspiration lie ahead. We’re excited to see what this year’s lineup has to offer.

We are starting off with the film ‘Living in a Piece of Furniture + Curating Modernism’ 2024, directed by Lex Reitsma. The film explores Rietveld’s work from the perspective of Truus’ love for the man and his work, documented in an audio interview from 1982, and in interviews with her loved ones.

The film festival runs until the 20th of May. See their programme in the following link.
