HUGE CONGRATULATIONS TO LOUIS CLARK!

We are incredibly proud to announce that our very own Louis Clark has been officially selected to represent New Zealand as part of the 2026 Black Fins team!

Louis and the rest of Surf Life Saving New Zealand’s (SLSNZ) elite squad will be heading to Port Elizabeth, South Africa, this December to compete in the Lifesaving World Championships.

Please join us in congratulating Louis on this massive achievement. We are so incredibly proud to have you on our team, and we can’t wait to cheer you on this December!

Welcome Back, Mr Burton!

We are delighted to welcome David Burton back to Birkenhead College as our new Principal, beginning in Term 4.

Having previously spent almost six years at BC as Assistant Principal and Deputy Principal, Mr Burton knows our school, our values, and our community exceptionally well. Most recently, he has served as Associate Principal at Westlake Girls High School, where he played a key role in supporting student achievement and enhancing learning outcomes.

As a North Shore local, parent, and strong advocate for education, he brings a genuine understanding of what matters most to our students, whānau, and wider community.

Mr Burton is deeply committed to building on the strengths of Birkenhead College and ensuring every student continues to feel known, supported, challenged, and inspired to achieve their personal best.

We are excited about the next chapter for Birkenhead College and look forward to welcoming Mr Burton back to the BC whānau.

☀️ WE'RE GOING SOLAR! ☀️

This morning, the Government announced the 500 schools nationwide selected for solar panel installations, and BC is on the list!

We are incredibly excited about this opportunity to power our school with clean, renewable energy and take a huge step forward for sustainability.

🎶 MASSIVE SHOUTOUT TO OUR INCREDIBLE MUSIC DEPARTMENT! 🎶

Whenever our students take the stage at major secondary school music competitions and blow the judges away, there is a dedicated team standing proudly in the wings. Today, we are celebrating our phenomenal Music Department and the awesome student talent we have here at Birkenhead College!

Our music staff pour their hearts into making sure every student has the opportunity to discover their sound, refine their talent, and achieve amazing things. It’s their tireless commitment that empowers our students to compete, and succeed, at such a high level.

Our students respond by putting in the absolute maximum effort and delivering incredible performances that make us all incredibly proud.

Thank you to our music team for hitting all the right notes and being the ultimate champions for our students, and to our student musicians for your endless dedication. We appreciate everything you all do! 🎷🎹🎤

Congratulations to Rylee Taurima in Year 13 on having two of her prints accepted into the Ringa Toi Art Exhibition, which will be exhibited at Te Papa later this year! 🎉

Inspired by her two Koro, Rylee’s beautiful prints reflect her creativity and talent. We are so proud of this outstanding achievement!
