For the past few weeks our children were excitedly preparing to celebrate Christmas with our Busby kaiako and whānau.
The children made and painted salt dough Christmas decorations with Claire. Our smaller Tamariki did a brilliant job of making natural Christmas decorations with Wei. They loved tasting the lemon, orange and star anise and then pulling the yarn 🧶 to form the decoration.
They also made a snow globe with baubles as a surprise gift for their Mums and Dads. They also decorated the Christmas tree 🎄 and made cookies for Christmas.
Some other awesome activities were putting pegs on to cookie cutters, using tongs to transfer jingle bells. They also did jingle bells 🔔 painting activity. Art reindeers to hang on their trees, ginger bread men and Santa Claus activity
Our children along with their teachers went around the block spreading Christmas cheer and giving boxes of chocolates to the families bringing smiles to their faces 😀☺️😊
We had an awesome Christmas 🎉 party with a bouncy castle and danced and sang carols and had jelly for kai yummy 😋 We even had a visit from Santa ❤️❤️
We loved all the different rituals that we revisit each year at Christmas time to celebrate 🎉 with our Whānau and teachers 🥰😍❤️❤️👏🎄🥳
We love celebrating with our Busby whānau

Kia Ora Whanau!!

We had a lot of fun at Busby this week! The highlight was the fun water and sand play we engaged in this morning. Although the weather was quite gloomy today, it was still very hot and humid. The mini water play activity was perfect for our Tamariki to cool their bodies off. They participated in the activity quite well as they exhibited good patience, consideration and turn taking skills with one another. Our older Tamariki consistently leant a helping hand to our younger ones especially with washing their hands before and after kai, helping them put their shoes and hats on and helping them reach their water bottles. In addition to this, our Tamariki spent the first half of their morning helping their teachers make Christmas playdough and enjoyed themselves engaging in various types of play with the playdough.

Our children worked on strengthening and building beautiful relationships with each other. Child A and B played joyfully on the see-saw.
We also enjoyed wonderful stretching exercises at Mat-time.
Have a wonderful Christmas weekend and enjoy your time with your family 😍😍

This week our Tamariki were extremely busy painting their Christmas tree cones. Our children also were engaged in decorating their snowflakes ❄️ they used their creativity and imagination creating awesome decorations which they will take home to decorate their own Trees at home. Our little toddlers started their Christmas card for their families. The little ones enjoyed the sensory experience of the slippery texture of the paint and rubbed it between their fingers and then rubbed the paint all over their hands 😍 This week, we helped make Santa’s 🎅 clothes and hat 🎩 . We showed courage when using the hot glue gun 🔫 to glue cotton balls on Santa’s hat. We also continued make more beaded snowflakes ❄️ using sparkly pipe cleaners and colourful beads. We used our fine motor skills, hand eye coordination skills, patience, turn taking and problem solving skills during this activity.
We enjoyed all our indoor and outdoor activities
Have an awesome weekend 😍🥰

This week we had a lovely visit from water care who taught us about the importance of conserving water and the damages done to our environment because of the use of chemicals flushed into our water sources. While we heard about these important pieces of information, we also got an opportunity to be a part of the process and act them out. During our session, we enacted the water cycle, pretending to be the water 💦 , then droplets 💧, clouds ☁️ and eventually rain 🌧. We also pretended to be a huge water body while some of us friends pretended to be cow 🐮 dung and other contaminants in the water. We then went through a big pipe to remove all contaminants and provide clean water. We were also shown how many buckets of water we waste by having a long shower 🚿 and how many bottle of water we can save by closing the tap when brushing. We were also reminded which flush button to press when we go to the toilet 🚽 . In addition to this we all get to take home shower timers to help us time our showers so that we don’t waste water.

Kia Ora everyone! Our Busby tamariki have had a full on week! The highlight of their week was engaging in a healthy competitive game of tug-of-war where they displayed great team spirit, perseverance as well as plenty of creativity and problem solving skills as they found different ways to try and win the game such as tying the rope on a ladder and around a pole. Our tamariki also explored the wonder of Clay where they squished, patted and pounded the clay, feeling the texture with their fingers. Using their imagination they created a variety of characters like Superman, a snowman ☃️ a girl with long hair, etc. Some of our tamariki made a few clay balls and then rubbed them on their arms, feeling the soft texture. Clay helps children to develop fine motor skills. Develops imagination, problem solving, team work and social skills. Our tamariki seemed to have lots of fun and displayed concentration and social skills as they spoke to one another at the table. Ka pai Tamariki for having such a great week at Busby!!

Our annual special whānau night is coming soon, on 13th November this year. This year we are supporting the Breast Cancer Foundation. All the money we collect will go to them. Yesterday we did a spontaneous walk to Lynn mall. The children walked all the way there, including our youngest one T who is not yet two. We approached some local businesses in Lynn mall, hopefully they could support us with our fundraising event. We took a bus home which everyone was very excited. Today, the children also helped the teachers to wrap the hamper boxes and put the gifts in the baskets. We are super excited about this event. It is great to see local businesses, whānau, children and the teachers making contributions in different ways in order to support this fundraising event. Thank you everyone.

Each year we hold our annual fundraiser in support of a charity/organization close to our hearts.
This year we are proud to be fundraising for the Breast Cancer Foundation.
Every year, 3,300 Kiwis are diagnosed with breast cancer, and more than 650 will die. The money raised will help fund groundbreaking work by some of our countries top breast cancer researchers, educate people about breast health, and provide free support services for breast cancer patients and their families.
Anyone and everyone can use our link to support such a great cause. We have set a small target of $300 (it will be amazing if we raise more) and our wonderful owners match every dollar raised!

Your donation - no matter how small - will help fund vital research projects and medical grants to help improve survivorship, educate Kiwis on the signs and symptoms of breast cancer, and support patients and their families during treatment and recovery.
