Reviews like this are exactly why we do what we do 🧔

There's nothing better than seeing a child who doesn't come from a Mandarin-speaking home find their feet with the language, and start using it in everyday life.

We believe kids learn best when it's engaging and fun, which is why every session mixes learning with games and crafts. And with small class sizes, each child gets that extra attention to help them grow.

Thank you Judy, for trusting us with your child's Mandarin journey, it means a lot to us.

This review truly made our day 🧔

It has been wonderful to see this young learner grow in confidence and develop an enjoyment of Mandarin through our classes.

At Pistachio, we believe children learn best in a fun and supportive environment where they feel encouraged to participate, connect with others, and build their language skills.

Thank you Laura, for trusting us with your son’s Mandarin journey. We also appreciate the support you provide at home — it plays an important role in your son’s progress.

This review made our day 🧔

Huge thanks to one of our wonderful parents! Hearing that a child comes home using Mandarin words they’ve learnt in class is one of the best signs that learning is connecting and sticking.

We're also delighted that our very good teacher-to-child ratio helped create a supportive learning environment where every child receives the attention they need to grow with confidence.

Ever been at a family gathering where everyone's chatting away in Mandarin and you haven't got a clue what's being said?

That’s what inspired Scott to start learning Mandarin. With Mandarin-speaking family members, he often felt left out of conversations. When his older relatives said they were too old to learn English, Scott decided he would learn Mandarin instead.

A year later, he’s no longer just listening from the sidelines, he can join the conversation, share his own thoughts, and use Mandarin with family and Chinese clients at work.

We’re delighted to be part of Scott’s Mandarin journey. From learning everyday phrases to understanding the culture behind the language, Scott has discovered new ways to connect with family and others through Mandarin.

As Scott says: ā€œPistachio, nǐ hěn bĆ ng!ā€

Thinking about starting your own Mandarin journey? Whether it’s to connect with family, for work, travel, or simply to learn something new, we’d love to be part of your journey. Link in bio! (www.learnmandarin.co.nz)

Moving to a new country is a big step and having some Mandarin before you arrive can make all the difference.

Meet Geoff, one of our online adult students. A teacher himself, Geoff has been learning with Pistachio for the past six months as he prepares for his move to Shanghai next month.
Having lived and worked overseas before, he knows the value of building a language foundation before arriving. His lessons have been tailored to his goals, focusing on practical vocabulary and phrases he'll use in everyday situations.

Thank you, Geoff, for your kind words. Hearing "Nǐ hěn bĆ ng!" (You're awesome!), "ZĆ i jiĆ n!" (Goodbye) and "XiĆ  cƬ jiĆ n!" (See you next time) means a lot to us.

We wish you all the very best for your new adventure in Shanghai!

Thinking about learning Mandarin for work, travel or a move overseas? We'd love to help you too.

🧠 Did You Know?

Mandarin engages both sides of the brain simultaneously.

Unlike most languages, Mandarin requires the brain to interpret tones and process sounds all at once, each activating a different brain function.

The result? Stronger memory, sharper focus, and better problem-solving. Skills that don't just stay in the classroom, they follow you into the workplace.

At Pistachio Mandarin Language Centre, we teach Mandarin in a way that's practical, engaging, and built for real life🌿

Learning Mandarin is more than learning a language — it’s about connecting with people and cultures.

Meet Ian, one of our online adult students, who started his Mandarin journey because he wanted to connect more with his partner and her family in China.

Over the past year, Ian has been building his confidence through practical everyday Mandarin, learning useful phrases he can apply when shopping, travelling, and interacting with others. After three visits to China, he has been able to have simple conversations with his partner’s friends and family, gain a deeper understanding of the culture, and feel more at ease in everyday situations.

We’re proud to be part of Ian’s journey and grateful for his kind words: ā€œPistachio Mandarin (nǐ hěn bĆ ng)!ā€ which means you are awesome.

Thinking about starting your own Mandarin journey? Whether it’s for travel, family, culture, or personal growth — we’re here to support you.
