We value whanaungatanga/relationships and partnerships with tamariki, parents, whānau and the wider Clayton Park community. At Clayton Park kindergarten we have a team of four qualified teachers and an unqualified teacher who provides cover during our breaks. Our philosophy is to foster children’s interests and creativity, develop independence and life skills and to promote sustainable environment

al practices. We are an Enviroschools kindergarten. We encourage sustainable practices such as reduce, reuse and recycle. We have a kindergarten “Care code” which reminds us to care for the environment and each other. Gardening, composting and looking after the worm farm is part of our everyday experience.Clayton Park kindergarten has an ongoing reciprocal relationship with Clayton Park School. Each week some of our older children visit the new entrants classroom. The children in the new entrants classroom/s visit us on a weekly basis. We are invited to participate in school activities.

Kia ora e te whanau,
Nga tamariki were very excited to open up and see the new toys we received today. We now have lots more Mobilo parts for our tamariki to create with. We also have some play fruit and vegetables for our whaanau area and we have a water play tube set for our tamariki who can learn about recycling water.
We look forward to watching nga tamariki play and create with these new toys.

E te whānau, our kupu hou we are learning is Kaitiaki.

In the centre kaiako say, "You are a great kaitiaki looking after papatūānuku" when tamariki pick up rubbish or "Amazing mahi kaitiaki", when tamariki help in the gardens.

In the video, i have given an example of how you can use kaitiaki at home but you could also use the examples mentioned.

Give it a go whānau! Kia kaha te reo Māori!

Kia ora e te whānau, as discussed at our recent Kindergarten support group hui, here is the karakia kai video. Have a go at practicing this at home before dinner with your whānau and once you're confident, start using this karakia kai at all meal times. If you get stuck or need help you can come in and see ngā kaiako or ask your tamariki as they are pro's with karakia kai.

We would love to see/hear your feedback on how you're using this karakia at home with your tamariki. Feel free to send us videos on storypark.

Kia ora e te whaanau,
We went on a trip to the Auckland Zoo this week and her are some photos of the day. Ngaa tamariki have been engaging in koorero about the kararehe (animals) and discussing facts that they learnt. Have a koorero with your tamariki and ask them, which animal is the tallest? Which animal is the fastest? Which animal is the slowest?

Kia ora e te whanau,

Talofa lava aiga,

Last week we celebrated Vaiaso o le Gagana Samoa/Samoa Language week at the kindergarten. Nga tamariki were engaged in art activities, stories, songs, books, and dance from Samoa. Some of our tamariki wore traditional Samoan puletasi/dress and they looked just beautiful.

We were lucky enough to be able to watch our very own Lia perform a traditional Samoan dance for our aiga and their fanau. Well done Lia you danced beautifully and we were all captivated by your performance.
