🤧 Got a cold or the flu? You usually don’t need to stop breastfeeding.
For most common illnesses like colds and flu, you can continue breastfeeding your baby. In fact, your breast milk contains antibodies and other immune factors that can help support your baby while your body is fighting the infection.
There are a few important things to consider - particularly around hand hygiene, coughing/sneezing and medications. This is why it’s always worth checking what’s safe to take while breastfeeding.
Save this post for the next time you (or someone you know) is feeling under the weather, and might need the reassurance.

Safe sleep is one conversation every new parent needs to have before their baby arrives. 🤍
There’s a lot of information around safe sleep, and sometimes the statistics can feel confronting. Our approach is to give you the full picture, including the evidence around different risk factors - so you can make informed decisions for your baby and your family.
For example, research shows that formula-fed babies have around twice the chance of SUDI compared with breastfed babies. This is one piece of the evidence we discuss alongside other factors that can influence safe sleep.
We also know that some parents choose to bed-share despite Ministry of Health advice to have babies sleep in their own safe sleep space. Rather than avoiding the conversation, we believe parents deserve to understand the evidence, the risks and how those risks can be reduced. We explore this in more depth as part of our antenatal education.
Our goal isn’t to tell you how to parent. It’s to make sure you have the information you need to make informed choices.

🌙 If your baby is glued to you every evening from 6-11pm, that's not a sign your supply is failing.
This is called cluster feeding, and it's incredibly common in the early weeks. Babies cluster feed to help build up your milk supply for the days ahead, and for extra comfort during the hardest part of the day.
It usually peaks in the evening and can feel relentless in the moment, but it doesn't mean anything is wrong. Wet nappies and weight checks are still your best markers that things are on track.
Save this post for the next 9pm feed marathon, and share it with a new parent who might need the reassurance.
