We were incredibly proud to have three of our students attend a special lunch alongside some of the leading names in women’s football, including the likes of Erin Cuthbert and Football Ferns legend Abby Erceg, along with members of their respective coaching teams.
Our students had the opportunity to hear first-hand about the growth of women’s football, the challenges faced by women and girls in sport, and the importance of creating greater opportunities and pathways for the next generation.
This opportunity strongly reflects what we strive for at St Dominic’s College — providing our young women with opportunities to grow in confidence, discover their potential, develop leadership skills and be inspired to make a positive difference. Through our VERITAS values and commitment to developing the whole person, we encourage our students to step beyond the classroom, embrace new experiences and recognise that their voice and contribution can create change.
It was an incredible opportunity for our students to listen, learn and be inspired by those helping to shape the future of women’s football. 💙⚽️
A huge thank you to AUT - Auckland University of Technology, Tuia Waitākere for creating such a meaningful opportunity for our Rangatahi

St Dominic's Catholic College Flex Ensemble presented a fantastic performance at KBB Music Festival on Tuesday morning. This developing ensemble consists of Year 7–Year 12 students who have made marvellous progress since the start of the school year. With a unique mix of instruments, the ensemble is able to explore a range of musical styles.
We are proud of all our players' independence and achievement. Special mention goes to the courageous and resilient players who only started learning instruments in Term 1. Well done to all players who have stepped up to the mark.
Thank you to the itinerant music team who supported the flex ensemble: Mr Lin (violin), Ms Doyle (percussion), Mr Lee (woodwind), Mr Kim (brass), and Mr Gittins (bass guitar).
Our heartfelt thanks to the music whānau and school who supported us every step of the way.

🏉 AUCKLAND RUGBY LEAGUE GALA DAY
Our St Dominic's Rugby League team proudly competed in the annual Auckland Rugby League (ARL) Gala Day, an event dedicated to providing schools with the opportunity to develop and grow the game of rugby league.
With a very young squad made up of 11 Year 9 students, 2 Year 10 students, 1 Year 11 student, and 2 Year 12 students, our girls showed incredible determination, resilience, and teamwork throughout the day. They continued to improve with every game, supporting one another and representing St Dominic's with pride both on and off the field. 💚🖤
To finish the day, our team secured 3rd place! 🥉 A great achievement, especially with such a young squad, and is a testament to the effort and commitment the girls have shown this season.
Congratulations to all of our players on a fantastic day. A big thank you to our coaches, Alfonso and Sebastian Fuiava, with the support of Lima Sula, for their dedication and guidance, and to our supporters for cheering the team on. We are also grateful to Waitemata Seagulls Rugby League Club for sponsoring our team jerseys, which the girls proudly wore throughout the tournament. We are incredibly proud of this young team and look forward to watching them continue to grow and achieve even more in the seasons ahead. 👏🏉

📚 A Special Book Week Visit from Graci Kim
We were honoured to host bestselling author Graci Kim at St Dominic's on Friday as part of a Writers in Schools visit.
Graci met with students at lunchtime, signed copies of her books, and even helped with the challenging task of selecting the best costumes from our Book Character Dress-Up Day. ✍️
Our Year 7-9 students were inspired by Graci as she shared her journey to becoming a successful author, encouraging them to remember that failing is not the same as failure-as long as you fail forward into the next opportunity. She challenged students to see themselves as the main character in their own story.
Graci Kim's Gifted Clans trilogy and Slinger series have flown off our library shelves, and it has been wonderful to see the excitement and enthusiasm these books have sparked among our students. 📖
We are incredibly grateful to Read NZ Te Pou Muramura for facilitating this visit. There is something truly powerful about hearing directly from creators, and our students loved every moment of the opportunity.
A spectacular way to finish Book Week 2026 on a high! 🌟
