Macleans College Learning Support students recently took part in a Special Olympics football tournament at Ellerslie Football Club.
Students demonstrated excellent teamwork, determination and sportsmanship throughout the day, while Macleans College volunteers provided outstanding leadership and support for all participants.

Macleans College students recently took part in the Women’s Infrastructure Network’s Girls in Infrastructure initiative.
The programme gave students an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the new KiwiRail Drury Station development, along with opportunities to meet industry professionals and explore career pathways in infrastructure.
Students also enjoyed interactive technology and virtual reality activities during the experience.

🏑 The Macleans College 1st XI Boys Hockey team began the season with an exciting 4-all draw against Orewa College, before the team powered to impressive wins over Northcote College (4-0) and St Peter’s College (4–1) 💪🔥
A tough contest against Westlake Boys High School ended in a 4–2 loss, and last week’s match against Takapuna Grammar School proved another challenging encounter. The boys showed plenty of determination and resilience throughout the game. Despite working hard defensively and creating opportunities when possible, they were limited in possession and eventually went down 4–2.
Tonight, the team takes on Rosmini College at home, with the match starting at 5.00 pm. Come along and support the boys as they look to bounce back on home turf! 📣

Macleans College students recently led a successful Amnesty International Day focused on raising awareness of human rights and global issues.
Through interactive activities, information stalls and fundraising initiatives, students encouraged the school community to learn more and get involved. The event highlighted the positive impact students can make through compassion, teamwork and community action.

Macleans College recently celebrated Mr Lonergan’s remarkable 40 years of service to the school community. Mr Lonergan joined the school in 1983 as a science teacher and went on to hold a number of key leadership roles.
Alongside his work in the classroom, Mr Lonergan has made a significant contribution to rugby at Macleans College. He has spent more than 30 years involved with the 1st XV as a coach and manager, organising many overseas tours and supporting the development of countless young players both on and off the field.
His contribution across teaching, leadership, sport and pastoral care continues to have a lasting impact on generations of students and staff. Macleans College extends its sincere appreciation to Mr Lonergan for his outstanding service, leadership and commitment to the school community.

🏀 The Macleans College Premier Boys Basketball team has made a strong start to the season in the Boys Open A division.
The team opened with an impressive 74-46 win over ACG Parnell College 💪 After a second-round bye, the boys returned to the court last week for a thrilling 53-52 victory over Sacred Heart College. Trailing in the final quarter, the team showed great determination and composure to fight back and secure the win 🔥👏
This evening, the team takes on King’s College away from home. Their next home game will be on Tuesday 2 June against One Tree Hill College, with tip-off at 7.00 pm 🏀

The Macleans College Intercultural Food Festival brought students together to celebrate the many cultures represented within the school community.
From dumplings and mochi to mango lassi and bubble tea, the event showcased a wide range of international flavours in a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere.
Proceeds from the festival will support Multicultural New Zealand and its work with migrants and refugees across Aotearoa New Zealand.

Macleans College senior Visual Art students recently visited Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki as part of the Pat Hanly Creative Project.
Students took part in a workshop led by distinguished alumnus and internationally recognised artist Reuben Paterson (Rutherford House 1987 - 1991), exploring storytelling, contemporary art practices and the theme 'Ko au te taiao / I am the environment'.
The experience provided valuable creative inspiration as students begin developing their project submissions for possible inclusion in the upcoming exhibition.
