Penny Tompkins and I have launched a brand new course: a detailed case study of an entire Symbolic Modelling and Clean Language session.
The client wanted to "be more in control" of feelings that had distressed and prevented her from speaking up since she was a child. She didn't think she could ever be "free" of these feelings. The best she hoped for was that they would not "bother me and bring me down as much".
However, in 45 minutes the client discovers the pattern that creates her problem, and when an extraordinary shift takes place in her metaphor landscape a box of matches and a pair of golden scissors set up the emergence of previously unimagined possibilities. Three months later the client reports on how her life has changed.
The course features:
- How we start a session from two drawings.
- How to work with a long-standing problematic pattern.
- How the sessions flows through six phases.
- How we facilitate the client to discover a vital 'choice point’.
- Our use of the Problem-Remedy-Outcome model.
- Our use of 'contextually clean' questions in addition to the basic 8 Clean Language questions.
The case study includes: a video of the entire session and a complete transcript; another hour video of Penny and I explaining and debriefing what we were doing; and a line-by-line annotated transcript – and more.
The price is US$60.00. However, if you find the full price financially difficult, you can enrol for HALF price using the discount coupon code: cs1-50

The effectiveness of Clean Language & Symbolic Modelling in evoking metaphor and revealing the hidden structure of our thinking are surely evidence that we each live a creative life, even if that life is out of awareness for many.
In this video, made for my presentation at the 2020 Embodiment Conference, I talk about being moved by art and how the combo of Coaching and Painting can be a deep game that can reconnects us to ourselves and helps us unpack our somatic experience through creative exploration.

Afterwards, Sarah Roos from South Africa sent me this message. I share it with her permission:
"Dear Amanda
I just wanted to say thank you for your powerful session. I work as a Compassion Focused Therapist in South Africa and work with disadvantaged communities. Many of my clients struggle with English. Your session has given me some amazing tools which I will use to help them find their voice, experience sensory richness, and discover their unique worth.
So I wanted to reach out and tell you how grateful I am for your talk. In sharing your wisdom and tools, you are helping people to find a voice and heal.
Sarah Roo
I cannot help but wonder, how many of us need exactly that ... to find our voice, experience sensory richness, and discover our unique worth ... ❤
So grateful for friends, painters, the activity of painting.
I am in awe at how the paintings that emerge, help us find our voices, experience sensory richness, and discover our unique worth.
And there's a bonus ball! ... we get to feel enough in ourselves and safe with each other!
Painting Process to Unpack Somatic Wisdom
This presentation from The Embodiment Conference 2020 describes using paint to recover a sense of our fundamentally embodied and intuitive nature.

On Valentine’s Day we celebrate love, 'cause love is a special thing, right? We spend a lot of time and energy on loving 😃
But strangely, though we often focus on romantic love, love for children, family or friends, we often struggle to love ourselves!
I haven't found any short cuts yet! Like any relationship, relating to you in a loving way can take consistency over time to cultivate.
But, I have found creative dates with myself to be a useful and an enjoyable practice that supports wellbeing and help me cultivate a positive relationship with myself.
On these dates, I can listen deeply to myself and develop a deeper awareness of and compassion for my life experience.
What do you think?
You could do this in many different and creative ways: writing, journaling, dancing, poetry, improv, painting, pursuits that can help you:
· get comfortable with not-knowing what comes next
· welcome and play with what emerges
· go beyond doubts & judgements to access flow
Yesterday is history, tomorrow's a mystery, taking time in the present to go on a personal journey of discovery can bring you to a spacious place of acceptance.
A place of surrendering to what is and a peaceful place of self-compassion where you can love you for you.
So on Valentine’s Day this year I’m gifting an online painting workshop in support of creating more love and wellbeing in our world. Reach out if you’d like to hear more ❤

Less than two weeks to go and only two places left on our two Melbourne workshops.
We will be presenting our very lastest way of using Clean Language and Symbolic Modelling with people who have a *pattern* of engaging in a *problem* behaviour – that they want to change.
Clean Language Training in Melbourne 2020 — Melbourne Reiki Centre
Join Penny and James in this interactive workshop and learn how to use Clean Language and Symbolic Modelling to enhance your ability to work directly with your client’s unwanted habits, self-sabotaging behaviours, compulsive and addictive patterns.

From James Lawley:
Hopefully the worst of the fires and extreme weather events in Australia have passed (for now at least!). It must be hard to think about much else.
And if you are considering joining Penny and I in Melbourne for either or both of our workshops (March 18-21), now would be a good time to secure your place.
The main workshop will focus on how to work cleanly with *habital patterns* of behaviours that do not serve us.
The second workshop will mainly involve demonstrations, debriefs, Q&A's to help you get insight into what goes on 'behind the scenes' during Symbolic Modelling client sessions.
