Malo e lelei OPS!
It's been a wonderful week celebrating Tongan Language. Well done to Lalanga Mo'ui for putting on such wonderful events. We were blessed to have Honourable Jenny Salesa MP attend both our opening and closing ceremonies, sharing the Tongan language and even a beautiful song!
Attendance was slightly down this week - all across the country families are battling the flu and other illnesses. We know how hard you are working to get your children to school, but we also know the value in rest, recovery and keeping the bugs at home.
Next week we are celebrating our Whakapuāwai Healthy Hearts Inquiry with cooking our Snack-Attack afternoon. Come along to classrooms from 2:30 on Thursday to learn about nutrition and try some healthy snacks the students will be preparing!

Another fantastic week of learning and attendance in the books. Well done to our newest classroom - Room 9 - who smashed it with 100% attendance!
Thank you to everyone who attended a learning conversation this week. We’ll be following this up on Wednesday afternoon with whanau hui for our Māori, Tongan, Samoan and English/Mainstream hubs. We also have Cook Island language week!

Kia ora koutou!
We've had a fantastic start to Term 3 with school photos and a welcoming pōwhiri - well done to the tamariki in Te Whānau Tūtakitanga who led our haka and shared their mihi.
Our new covered turf is getting closer to completion, which is very exciting considering the winter rain!
We also introduced two new "students" to OPS this week - Mānawa and Ngākau! They are our new mascots for the refreshed HEART values. You can meet them by clicking on this link - https://sites.google.com/otahuhuprimary.school.nz/opsdailynews/heart-values
