Wrapping up our Project 3 Architectural Studies with a fantastic visit to Highwic House in Newmarket.
Students stepped back in time, learning about the Buckland family and their pioneering role in Auckland’s early cattle and wool trade. The home, built in 1862, remained in the family until 1978.
Highlights included hands-on experiences—washing clothes the old-fashioned way with a mangle, making butter, and enjoying a game of croquet on the beautiful grounds.
A fun day of what life was like in 1800s New Zealand!
