Our Year 9 students recently enjoyed an exciting Coding Programme delivered by the Ministry of Inspiration.

Through hands-on learning, they explored how to create games using Scratch and developed their coding and problem-solving skills.

One of our Year 9 students, Margaret, shared her experience:

"I really enjoyed the coding program. We got to use booklets to help us make projects and games on Scratch, and the results were pretty cool. Most of us have done Scratch before, so this was also a really helpful extension."

It was great to see our students engaged, creatively, and building confidence in digital technologies. Thank you to the Ministry of Inspiration for providing this inspiring opportunity!

AUT South campus hosted the MedTech expo that highlights the incredible potential of Pacific innovation and health technologies. Hosted collectively by Moana Connect and Putahi Manawa, where they brought together innovation, collaboration and ideas that can help shape better health outcomes for our communities.

Some of our students were privileged to attend and have one on one conversations with specialists in the health industry.

During the term our Year 8 students have been learning to navigate how to use communication effectively to support their team mate around a space to win.

They are learning to use appropriate language instead if hand gestures when they are being guided. They are using nintendo game controllers and playstation controllers to complete the Esports each week.

On Monday the Year 10’s went to Weta Workshop to learn about how props are created and to check out different movie sets.

They were fascinated by the realism that the creators used.
A lot of effort went into making these props.

Some students had a go at using tracing to create dinosaurs and then manipulating tinfoil and clay to make head sculptures and facial parts.

The highlight for the trip would have to be the dark corridor they had to enter and then when I shined a light so they could see they had their hands up on fake sheep carcasses which looked very real like.
