Macleans College recently celebrated Mr Lonergan’s remarkable 40 years of service to the school community. Mr Lonergan joined the school in 1983 as a science teacher and went on to hold a number of key leadership roles.

Alongside his work in the classroom, Mr Lonergan has made a significant contribution to rugby at Macleans College. He has spent more than 30 years involved with the 1st XV as a coach and manager, organising many overseas tours and supporting the development of countless young players both on and off the field.

His contribution across teaching, leadership, sport and pastoral care continues to have a lasting impact on generations of students and staff. Macleans College extends its sincere appreciation to Mr Lonergan for his outstanding service, leadership and commitment to the school community.

Macleans College senior Visual Art students recently visited Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki as part of the Pat Hanly Creative Project.

Students took part in a workshop led by distinguished alumnus and internationally recognised artist Reuben Paterson (Rutherford House 1987 - 1991), exploring storytelling, contemporary art practices and the theme 'Ko au te taiao / I am the environment'.

The experience provided valuable creative inspiration as students begin developing their project submissions for possible inclusion in the upcoming exhibition.

The school community came together to support student sport and make the day one to remember. 💙👏

A moment from 2001 📸 Junior students gathered outside their whānau house, enjoying sit-down lunch and catching up with friends. A simple part of the day, but one that holds plenty of memories.

Can anyone spot a familiar face? 👀
What did you enjoy doing during the Macleans College lunchtime? Was it hanging out in the commons, a game of touch on the field 🏉 or finding a quiet corner in the Library with a good book📚?

As Macleans College approaches 50 years old, now is a great time to reconnect and share those memories.

Congratulations to Zoe Benson (Te Kanawa House 2020 - 2024) ⚽👏

Back in December, Zoe joined the Wellington Phoenix on a youth development agreement from Auckland United FC.

On Sunday night, Zoe came on during extra time in the Phoenix’s semi-final clash against the Brisbane Roar. The Phoenix secured a 2-0 win to book a historic spot in the A-League Women’s Grand Final 🏆

The victory marks the first time in the club’s 19-year history that either the men’s or women’s team has reached an A-League Grand Final — an incredible achievement! 🎉

Wishing Zoe and the team all the very best for the Grand Final against Melbourne City, in Melbourne, this Saturday 💛🖤

As Macleans College edges closer to its 50 year milestone, we’re looking back at the moments that shaped our community.

This snapshot takes us back to Cross Country in the year 2000. Spot the difference? The classic white PE shirts - before the introduction of whānau house colours.

Cross Country has always been a day where every student gets involved. Determination shows up. So does resilience. And plenty of support for one another along the way. That “effort 100%” school value? It’s been there from the start ❤️💙
