If anyone would like to stock up on art supplies for their little artist I’m giving away what you can see on the table. First offer is to Wild Things whanau. I’ll be at the studio Wednesday and Thursday from 2-4pm. Stop by and pick up whatever you need.
The clay bells and plates are here too for those who still need to collect. 😊

After some summertime deliberation I've decided to wrap up Wild Things. I've had a fantastic time teaching the kids and coming up with fun programs for them and I'm sorry to leave you in the lurch for the holidays. Hopefully somebody else will step into this space and keep the art going. I may do the occasional workshop but not a big block during the holidays. Anyway, it's been wonderful and thanks for bringing your kids along to support their creativity. xx Jemma

The kids did a great job making these clay bells last week. I’ll be firing them once they’re dry. Tomorrow is sgraffito plates. 🙂 The class is fully booked but I might do some more clay classes in the term. Will let you know.

Moomins!! Some uber talented artists learning how to draw with complementary colours. The intention was to paint out the sketch lines and be left with the blue finished line but the result was so cool it was hard to do.

This was such a fun project. It was all on. Problem solving galore. I love teaching construction. So many ‘how?’ questions. Many of these kids were 6 years old, and they managed to pull a moving puppet together.
The shadow plays at the end of the day had us in stitches. Wild Things term program is Shadow puppets this term. We’ll be building puppets and constructing scenes and a shadow theatre. It’s going to be great! I’m super excited about it.

This is Lachlan’s fantastic dot painting inspired by Aboriginal art. He has made his family tree with each circle representing members of his family, starting with his immediate family and all the extended members around them. The blue dots are their friends. The lines are the relationships with different colours based on the closeness. The family pet even features. There were so many different themes that came out of this class. Bodily cells, celestial bodies, myths, photosynthesis, family. I love seeing this process unfold.

Had a lovely small class for the first of the summer workshops. Happy to be easing back into it. I forgot to take finished photos of the puppets but got some snaps of a large trash crocodile/dragon lizard creature. There were some delightful animals and robot drum players also. Sorry guys, still in holiday mode. 🏝️

After School Art Classes for Term 1. Bookings are now open! We're running classes Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon 3:30-5pm. We'll be building a shadow theatre with puppets on Tuesdays and telling layered stories with mixed media on Wednesdays. They're going to be really great classes. I've limited the class size to 8 students so the students get a lot of attention. : )
